Because this is an advertising puff piece for the light phone. I’m going to guarantee you that someone in that company has connections to that school.

You’re not including the fact that they need some sort of wonky website for you to upload photos and add Podcasts. So it’s not just the phone they’re building but the whole infrastructure behind it.

And if what you said is true, then why give these kids light phones in the first place. I’m almost wondering if someone from the light phone company has some connection with that school.

Why can’t someone just make a phone. I don’t need a phone that plays music or can listen to podcast. I just need a phone that can make calls and make texts. I think their problem is they wanted this phone to still be like a smart phone.

I mean, I agree that cell phones can cause interruptions in schools, but doing this at a place like Buxton compared to some of the public schools I’ve taught in, well, that’s a whole different story.

In my opinion, from my own research, there will be many triggers to lupus. there is actually a lupus that caused by medication, called drug induced lupus. And lupus can be caused by more than autoimmunity. It can also caused by under immunity or immuno deficiency.

We know there are many triggers. This is why they call lupus a polygenic Disorder. And it has as many variations of symptoms as it does causes. I mean there’s even drug induced lupus.

In my opinion, on the classification of disorders around symptoms does more harm than good when trying to discover the cause of the disorder.

We need to stop the delay in personalized medicine in order to cure people of these disorders. This is essentially what they did with this patient. They took the time and looked at their genetics, and they found what was wrong.

I agree everything you said. This is horrific and no person should have to go through seeing all that disgusting material for my benefit of using the Internet. It’s really something that pushes me further and further away from using the Internet. I want to say first that housing first works. The stress of me being homeless is worse for my mental illness. And I applaud Austin for actually doing something.

Secondly, the biggest mistake they make is that they want to segregate low income people out of society. this is part of the problem. I don’t know if the solution to this, but I know it’s the problem. It makes us feel alienated and lesser. This is the most likely reason why these communities always seem to fail.

Also, putting these far outside of the city takes people away from resources like other people said. I’ll tell you when my depression is bad it’s much much harder for me to take a bus for 45 minutes than it is for me to walk for 10 minutes.

There is no fix for housing because the problem is not housing. It’s financial capitalism and individual greed. I lost my housing because I was kicked out of the studio. I was renting after my lease came up and they listed it as an Airbnb making twice as much then when I was living there. They did not have to do this, they chose to do it.

I’m not dismissing agency. I think agency is important. I’m just exposing you to the overruling effect of luck. And luck matters more than agency.

I’m homeless. And I never said agency is nothing. I am saying that luck is everything. For instance, I’m unlucky to be a man who is homeless.

I’m not removing the role of agency from success, as long as luck is on your side.

You’re not making an absurd claim at all and I agree with it. But you’re still using the same term which denotes the need for luck, that term is improbable. By saying it’s improbable you’re not saying it’s a certainty, so therefore luck is still a factor in your success.

You’re trying to make opportunity the same thing as luck. Of course I can increase my opportunity but I can’t change the outcome ever.

It’s obvious to focus on the things you can control, which is why I don’t focus on luck. And that’s also why I have sympathy for people who fail.

This aversion to the effect of luck is just making me realize how deluded many people are in the tech industry. And how they fell under the spell of lucky people who are successful, telling you it’s not about luck.

Cate views her own life through a frame of responsibility: she takes responsibility for what happens to her. At the same time, she is genuinely not proud, and genuinely doesn’t think she’s better than anyone else. She credits luck for her good fortune and unusual attributes more than anything else, and is compassionate and curious toward everyone we meet. This is, I think, what sticks with me most.

My point is to help you not forget your compassion. All this talk about agency is nothing if you don’t have the luck to go along with it. So if you see someone who’s homeless, don’t talk to them about their agency. Just help them.
