It seems like big cities get congested, on marginal systems the chances of only getting half the messages is very high. It really dosnt integrate with much else, the mqtt stuff seems unreliable.

It does seem like the RNode radios are a lot less mature but they seem to be aiming to be less of a toy.

They are artificially suppressing the api value by banning uses people want. If people want to opt out of the recommendation engine and ads that makes hosting cheaper and easier for YouTube. They only do it to leverage market position and imo that's bad.

If we ignore the law of universal gravitation the ambulance can hover over the park.

Rules are a part of how the world works as is the violation of them. Thought problems that deviate so far from reality are more a test of abstract thinking.

Rules implicitly exist for terminal goals (don't kill the grass in the park so people can enjoy it) but get abstracted into actionable decrees that are not necessarily aligned (Becky can't enjoy the grass if she's dead.)

If you can handle the science changing since publication in the 1930s(!!!) Olaf Stapledon is simply remarkable. "Last and first men" is one of my favorite books for just how unique it is, but "star maker" has some interesting parallels

There are probably a lot of optimizations in the silicone and software to find. It's not necessarily obvious what corners can get cut or where, the tradeoffs of tapping out new chips is worth it. Yet Another Matrix Multiplication Chip is not going to set the world on fire. Nvidia has that market pretty well captured.

But perhaps it turns out that subnets can be trained independently or swapped with semantically equivalent but qualitatively different ones. The routing network would effectively "Standardize" and could in principle be well enough understood to "hand optimize" the routing network into hardware. Or maybe back propagation has some novel physical analogue that can be exploited in scales we can access. The real question is if Altman is capable of finding the right path in the notoriously dead end filled field of chip design. His backing of helion [1] didn't bode well in my view. But with enough R&D maybe he will flail into something useful trillions is enough for a lot of flailing.

I hesitate to wade into this but he does not do interesting chemistry. I am deep into chemistry YouTube and followed Nile red since literally his first year on the site. He has wonderful presentation, clean videography, and great presentation. But his chemistry is some of the most rudimentary in the scene.

On the opposite side "chemical force" is amazing and borderline unwatchable.

The wide angle and time lapse of these massively overstates the problem. The angle they cover is microscopic and they only cover it for an instant. In visible spectrum I find it very hard to believe it is a more serious problem than earth based astronomy already deals with like atmospheric issues.

Radio looks pretty bleak, noise floor is about to get a lot higher.

Our use of data is WILDY inefficient currently.

Current training systems extract information on everything from every input. We don't read a cookbook to learn about space, but these models are twiddling weights all over these massive spaghetti balls of logic.

Looking at the data we have, the literal collection of all human knowledge and lamenting not having more is like standing on a ladder sideways.

But it's really starting to feel like pile of ladders is getting tall enough to bootstrap.

And these massive inefficient systems filled with data and churning matrixs will be set in order. And all the ladders laid end to end.

Running a fast network on sparse data then calling one optimized for a task on a subset seems like a good optimization and dealing with video we are probably going to need them.

After you parse what an object is, tracking it doesn't take anywhere near the effort of original segmentation. No need to re-evaluate until something changes.

Maybe even use activations to turn on and off networks. "Oh text better load ocr into memory"

And it does inform a lot of our built world It's strange to think that when watching a movie only 10% is in focus.

Eye movement does provide a lot of information to other people and I think the physical movement produces feedback for velocities and things too. Mimicking biology is often a good bet.
