I would love to see work as described in the article leading to the ability to analyse and quantify the output of journalistic outlets in terms of political bias, accuracy and depth of reporting.

If we had a tool like this, maybe we'd be able to move away from some of the emotive language that we use when talking about outlets like the Mail.

For a moment I thought you were calling the Mail "a great paper", but actually the simple language used by it is probably quite good for this purpose.

Cool stuff, but it needs extremely fast and low latency eye tracking to work effectively. It's not insurmountable, but a significant engineering problem.

Magic Leap is more of an AR solution, like HoloLens, as opposed to VR (as far as anyone can tell, seeing as they haven't demoed anything publicly).

Demoing that you can (partially) dissolve something in acetone or even water is not terribly impressive, even if their self-folding and mode of locomotion is pretty cool.

Flossing is actually less important than most people think. It's far more important to thoroughly brush your teeth, to the extent that most of the time that people spend flossing would be better off used for brushing.

Flossing doesn't protect against caries, but can provide some benefits for gum health.

People have been watching movies at 24fps for so long that they've been trained to put their brains into movie mode and suspend their disbelief when they see something at that rate.

You're not comparing like-for-like: Samsung, LG and Microsoft all produce other devices that come with less than 32GB of space. If you need 32GB, Apple provides a device for that (as do other manufacturers). If you don't need that much but want an Apple device, you can buy a 5C.

Escape was probably the weakest of all the MI games and hasn't aged as well Grim Fandango or any of the other MI games due to its art style and the early 3D engine.

I think they have apps on pretty much all devices now, and now that they are no longer part of a company that's making Windows Phones, I imagine they're probably putting more effort into Android and iOS than they were before.

I've noticed the same. I get the impression that the stronger the network signal, the better the battery lasts - I assume because the radio has to increase the power with which it communicates with the tower when the signal is weak.

I was once in a car that was pulled over at a speed trap in northern England, and noticed that they had guns on their hips. When asked, the officer said that they manned low-priority things like speed traps the majority of the time that they were on duty so they could rapidly respond to any firearms-related incidents. With how few of those we typically have, it sounds like an incredibly boring job.

This is the sort of tool that will find loads of uses in different areas if it's cheap, portable and flexible.

I can imagine engineers using it to examine materials, plant scientists looking at plant growth or builders using it to find out where different things are located in walls.
