what's the deal with empty half-a-page-of-text posts lately?

is this like the ultimate form of "headline is all you need"?

I came here wanting to see after-action-report of someone actually using Ai or wtvr for reverse-engineering. Instead I got "I heard it was so. The end"

They are only visible when they are spinning up to orbit

and are extremely easy to remove with the most basic of outlier rejection techniques; netizens often amplifiy outliers by max-stacking instead of outlier-rejected mean-stacking to make Starlink look much worse than it is

my understanding was that they are a problem on much bigger scale than yours "one dude with mobile telescope (or maybe just a camera?)"

sure, we don't have many film observatories anymore (where max-stacking is literally only thing they can do), but a lot of lower-to-medium scale observatories get polluted observations with not enough funding to clean up easily or too small FoV for cleanup to matter - frame gets ruined, observation needs to be longer for effect

my experience with reddit has been much more about its politization rather than anything about quality

"my side is right, the other is wrong" - has been too common of an occurrence, both in comments but also in posts and such frontpages as /r/all

Regarding the benchmarks linked by you, they do not seem so bad as they really are only because they are not compared with x86 CPUs or with any ARM CPU more recent than the 10-year old and obsolete Cortex-A72, which is many times slower than modern ARM CPU cores

"why do you compare 15y.o. chess GM against 15y.o. Carlsen instead of world champion he is today? if you do you'll see how pathetic performance actually is"

everything gets a weight category. immature architecture gets benched against immature state of architecture. narrow OoO gets compared against narrow OoO

check in 4 more years for results closer to frontline - but where we are, theoretical worries did not come to pass

taking architecture that explicitly removed carry flag for performance and then trying to to emulate carry flag anyway was stupid in 2021 and is still stupid today

even on x64 you get better performance when you don't use carry flag and just use limbs https://www.chosenplaintext.ca/articles/radix-2-51-trick.htm... - risc-v is even more so

and experimentally gmp bench results show performance in line with arm https://old.reddit.com/r/RISCV/comments/1jsnbdr/gnu_mp_bignu... so panic was for nothing

I can understand the clock running out meaning a loss - but I still want to play the rest of the words? how do I do that? I don't think they are accessible anymore

RAM is literally copy-paste of the same circuit over and over, you're trying to compare cost to produce million AK-47 with 1 carrier

and cost per transistor stopped decreasing at ~20-30nm, now small nodes are targetting energy efficiency (and thus performance, since heat is the main limiter)

my screen too short vertically - I didn't realize there's a whole half of the game hidden from me

again, you're approaching it from perspective "both sides get caught" being a possibility

when in actuality the choice is between "both sides steal" or "one side steals"

and allowing both sides to steal is in no way better

---

the main way desired "both sides get caught" state becomes a thing is after "one side" splits in two - still being close in horizontal connections to stabilize, but with developed instruments for either half to guard against the other
