I've firmly started believing in the phrase Bitcoin not Blockchain and dismissing anyone who thinks we should be storing database data in a blockchain.

Its 2018, we found its expensive and slow to use blockchain, don't store stuff that doesnt need to be trustless.

Billions of Tethers were printed seemingly out of thin air and used to purchase Bitcoin.

Do we know if it was BTC that was purchased?

I have half a mind to think that people who were smart enough to buy decentralized and scare BTC are different than the people who would buy a centralized fiat coin Tether.

The only people I know that use Tether are gamblers who are day trading alt coins.

It is become more and more apparent every day that Bitcoin is different than Alts.

Bitcoin needs to disconnect from the 'cryptocurrency' and 'blockchain' buzzwords.

Like it or not, Bitcoin is already used worldwide and is relatively stable if not positive. (No need to tell me of bandwagoners who bought at All Time Highs)

IMO Bitcoin needs to store value to be useful, not necessarily increase in value.

Altcoin mania is greed.

I have been explaining to newcomers that there is a difference between Bitcoin and everything else.

Bitcoin has become a man-made institution, similar to fiat, marriage, courts, religion, etc... There are people around the world that believe in the 21,000,000 Bitcoin to store value. The leading idea is that local governments print money and Bitcoin cannot be changed.

Alt coins are trying their best to promote themselves so people early to the market can make money. These are the people attending those conferences. They speak of using blockchain to store data, but this seems inappropriate given that blockchain cannot handle a large volume of transactions. I would guess many are failed/wannabe programmers jumping on a bandwagon.

The whole 'Lean Startup' trend was such a feel good gimmick.

Sure if you arent sure about your product and havent done any market tests, a minimum viable product is fine.

However, I had/have a service that was already popular and my circle of friends were obsessed with MVP and Lean Startup. They pressured me and when I began mainstream marketing the response was that my service was low quality.

Those people were wrong, but minimal HTML/css bugs was all it took for people to question me.

Hope not to see indifference caused by false equivalencies.

I'll try to come up with a 'close equivalence'.

Person makes Billions of dollars by giving his organization to a questionable company. This includes the personal information of users, the social infrastructure, and employees.

I am a 10%er who saves literally $60,000 USD/yr, let alone my wife is a Dr. with her own income. I cannot see myself selling out for petty money. Money cannot buy happiness when you can buy almost everything you want.

My side projects look to profit as profit as a capitalistic indicator of beneficial change.

So I dont understand, what is this person going to do with the money? If you sell out, you better be doing significantly better things with that money.

All of this is IMO, life philosophy, and the culture around me.

This is far too generic, but here are some types of competencies-

For Full Stack

Being a database expert, being a data expert, and API usages.

For Embedded

Electrical Engineering(Primary) and Mechanical Engineering(as needed)

For Automation

I'd simply recommend to prove yourself on Automation. When others are dazzled, you made it.

Any of these would be something that co-workers will be coming to ask you questions about.

even Verizon acknowledged that the limited network they were rolling out would not scale up and would not resemble the 5G it intended to have in the years to come.

I dont use Verizon, but this article seems to be riding the Verizon hate bandwagon despite numerous mentions that this is essentially a prototype.

I'll applaud innovation and new tech, even if the first year or so requires some re-work.

Recently my website was criticized for using the data on the food package rather than USDA data.

I'm unsure what the 'correct answer' is, given they were off by 25% which is significant.

I could add javascript so the user could decide which reporting method they would like to see, but I'm considering that this is massive overkill with limited benefit for the customer.

I doubt my conclusions are impacted as despite this huge difference, top 10 items usually stay around the top 10.

Any thoughts on how to make the data the most trustworthy and accurate?

This makes the most sense.

Consider how every industry can benefit from having a developer doing job automation, looking at data for optimization, or making new products.

The demand is ferocious.

I don't understand why developer wages are lower outside the US. Shouldnt developers everywhere be changing local industries?

Did they even answer the question or drop a bunch of stats?

"Dylan Williams, 22, a full-time student pursuing a master’s degree in public health at George Washington University, earns about $475 a week before taxes from two minimum-wage jobs at a coffee shop and co-working space in the nation’s capital."

then

"Also, the higher the education level, the greater the likelihood of holding more than one job, including in professional and business services, finance, insurance or real-estate, Gimbel said."

So which is it? People that cant get a job in Industry or highly educated individuals that work extra?

I did not understand this article's purpose.

Can someone do a test for willpower/hardwork?

I think that would be a useful indicator. I was a B student, but I've accomplished more than A students now that I'm approaching my 30s.
