Given how good Proton is, I don't think it's useful to target Linux for most indie devs unless it's a one click build for multiple platforms. Even then, I've definitely had more issues with games with native Linux builds than Proton, where there's been a number of games I've set to use Proton over native to get better performance.

I'm a strong believer that PRs should be merged via a "squash and merge" strategy, with the singular commit being descriptive of the overall change and having a link back to the PR for deeper story analysis as needed. I'm also a staunch believer at this point that PRs should really focus on one thing as well. If when working on a bug you discover another semi-related bug? Open two PRs.

Let main be the story of how code got from point A to B, and PRs be the story of how each incremental step was made.

While I agree tooling could be better, while in grad school I found that a lot of academics / grad students don't know that any of the tooling even exists and never bothered to learn if and such tooling existed that could improve their life. Private equity firms are already an absolute blight even before Musk's handling of Twitter. The move to python 3 helped shake loose a number of text processing bugs with library I work on, that was never caught in python 2 with its loose goosy text type handling.

If you think people asking to go by a set of pronouns is a bridge too far, you're part of this toxic community. Do you go through life calling every single person you met "he/him"? Trans people (and anyone not going by male pronouns) don't like being misgendered, and refusing to not do that, especially when informed via their discord username, is being toxic. If you want to say the Internet belongs to just people with men pronouns, say that, don't strawman behind the "no one cares" nonsense.

This is the one of the biggest things. If someone identifies with a set of pronouns (and it's one of the mainstream set no less) and the community goes out of their way to misgender them, there's no excuse for it, other than they're being purposely toxic. This is also something that takes zero effort to do (just call everyone "they" unless they explicitly indicate otherwise), and metiocracy or otherwise has no bearings.

This isn't totally accurate at least in NY, though I'd be surprised in other states. A similar example, not from Pixar, would be I watched Big Fish with an ex and she couldn't finish it do to her complicated past with her dad, which I didn't have with my own dad.
