Well, there is a bit more to it... basically, the phone is really simple and everyone knows how to use it.

Yes, you can listen online without signing up. It is similar to Twitch etc, but has features catering to audio streaming that you wont find on other platforms.

In the UK, the recruitment agents run the IT tech recruitment industry. Very rarely do companies take on the process themselves (I mean proportionately it's quite low).

In the US, it's reverse.

I think $10 a month is fine. Those who value this service wont change their mind because of a few bucks.

Remember - people who will use this service will probably do it for business, they wont be teenagers, and a $10 will be nothing if the service provides any type of value at all.

I guess the part Im really keen to setup is the S3 + Hive/EMR part. But it sounds like it will be a bit too expensive to have up-to-date stats, and better to just do batch processing to run reports.

This sounds reallly interesting, but it feels very painful for reporting. Trying to run reports on this type of data for a dashboard seems out of the question.

I understand adhoc research is done via command line, but if you wanted to have a dashboard which shows stats, how would you handle that? I assume you would have to import into a db of some sort to run queries regularly?

You may not become malnutritioned, but you will suffer from various oral problems due to lack of mastication. This may take a year or even a few years to present itself - by then it will be too late to react.

The answer finally came to me from trial and error of something else. This is caused by caffeine - usually from coffee. Engineers dring lots of coffee, so often suffer from this. It is a type of "jittering".

These are not "another job" candidates. These are A grade candidates who are not desparate enough to take any lame offer they get (unlike recent grads with little experience).

I worked in a company that did this, because of the slightly different business requirements they had regarding "publishing" on demand. Needless to say, it didnt end well.

Reinventing replication is usually a sign of poor application architecture; change the code, not the concept of replication.

When you are the master of your trade (read: touch typist who types on a daily basis e.g. developer), the keyboard is much faster for most tasks. That is why vim is so popular.

I dont have a problem with coding standards. I have a problem with following something so strictly, even when it makes no sense at all - such as this class name.

Because I love this shit. Working hard makes me proud of myself. Relaxing and taking holidays actually makes me feel guilty about being 'lazy'. The harder I work, the better I feel. It's weird.

There are 2 major flaws in this experiment - both stem from this assumption

that the first couple of years of working for this company, are equivalent to the next 3 years.

This is obviously NOT correct.

1. The more you work with a codebase, the more you undestand its details and complexities - this alone should help you eliminate more bugs during developement.

2. You will have improved as a developer - meaning that the last 3 yeras in your life will have more experience and knowledge than the first 2.

As sad as I am at stating this fact... you cannot conclude that TDD actually works, because there are too many other variables involved.
