New reddit has a literally worse user experience. No comments display more than maybe 1 reply and if you click to view more, it takes you to a dedicated page for just that reply. If you click the back button it completely forgets where you were in the original comment thread. Basically impossible to peruse comment sections like on askreddit posts, etc.

I tried Kagi a year or two ago but it just didn't have most results. Google always had what I was looking for.

Apple is definitely using custom silicon designed for PCC, as none of their existing chips have the memory capacity or bandwidth to serve LLMs to even a single client performantly, let alone many clients. The speed with which Apple Intelligence worked back when it actually used Apple's own PCC and not Google's cloud was still much higher than could be achieved with anything they sold to customers. Now of course, Siri AI is too big and expensive for even that, but hopefully Google's cloud is just a stopgap...

Sketch has always been the app I use for quick throwing-together of things. Figma seems designed for specifically corporate design documents which is icky.

I don't consider it a possibility that state of mind would not have been a result of his mistreatment. You seem to recognize it can be brought about by situations, and I consider that reasoning enough. You don't have to perfectly calculate suicide as the only practical answer in order for your actions to be reasoned. Even primal reasoning can count.

We don't know whether brain chemistry alone leads to this. The traits are complex enough that most likely it is a result of social conditioning rather than only genetics. Genetics may still play a role however, especially epigenetics.

I mean, I don't agree with the assumption that he was simply irrational and chose this because he wasn't thinking straight. I would much rather believe that he had strong reasons for this and that there is something to be done about the circumstances that led to it. Suicide is more often than not a systemic failure and not simply an outlier to be ignored.

If you read the article and see all the shit that he went through before he died it should be obvious that he's not the one at fault for breaking under that pressure. Not everyone has the strength to brave such bullshit.

I feel like ascribing it to "wonky brain chemistry" serves to erase agency. I read the article and there are very real and reoccurring reasons of incredible mistreatment for why this happened. It is not because he was simply unstable and decided to try suicide for no reason. He had such a reason that I am incredibly disappointed in the entire system that led to this.

Sure, suicide can be incredibly selfish, but there are other factors at play here. It's not like he just decided he wanted to harm everybody around him. There are basically always much stronger motivations that stem from very tragic mistreatment and that deserves more recognition than however morally incorrect or disrespectful to others it is to end one's own life.

I say this as someone who has attempted and who knows multiple others who have attempted. None of those attempts were intended to harm anyone. They were meant to put an end to unbearable suffering that had no apparent other way out.

In all seriousness, people often commit suicide when they feel like nobody wants them around anyway. He may not have registered that his loss would be a negative to those around him, even those closest to him.

Cache misses are the one reason I stopped using OpenCode in favor of Pi. OpenCode mutates the system prompt every turn, which is completely unacceptable and betrays such a basic misunderstanding of LLMs that I can't in good conscience trust the rest of the product regardless of how technically impressive it is.

Reagent tests are the standard for that. They're basically a bunch of acids that change colors depending on what they're mixed with. You test some samples with a bunch of them, and the way each one changes colors tells you what is or isn't in the samples. Ehrlich reagent is good for checking for the presence of LSD, others are good for ruling out adulterants. Fent strips for example are used to check for presence of fentanyl. You can get all of the above from places like DanceSafe.

What you're describing is Spaces which is macOS's multi-desktop system. I agree it's annoying to have to tolerate a glacial animation just to switch between apps when they happen to be fullscreen. It's not a deal-breaker for me, but it's definitely near the top of my list of annoying things about macOS. But fullscreen applications are on the same level as additional desktops, basically. My personal solution is just to get good at swiping quickly but there is also now an app that simulates the trackpad gesture well enough to get instant switching.

The menu bar is supposed to appear with the cursor at the top of the screen. I have also encountered issues where it doesn't properly hide until you bring your cursor back in order to take the cursor away again and then it hides. It's a quirk but I sort of understand why it happens and it's just a small glitch to me.
