:) probably true, but there are some innovations coming out that might make a difference

I recently built this: (https://github.com/Link-/github-app-bash) as a quick way to generate access tokens to use with GitHub's APIs. Now I can use tokens with a limited scope, and lifetime when I test which is safer than using a personal access token that never expires. It's fully written in bash and does not have many dependencies. It's quick does the job.

I think you're amplifying the weight of the degree in the hiring process and I'm not sure it's such a hard requirement given the increasing demand for data scientists and ML engineers. So far, yes. Their API is geared towards allowing developers to provide services on top their offering (On-Demand delivery and whatnot). I have a hunch that they will never release analytics for their riders. It's not a priority and it doesn't drive more business.

Awesome! I never actually thought of that.. I think the next step is to focus more on the analytics part and extracting interesting insight. That's where the actual value is imho.

I've been battling with this issue for quite sometime now. I did not find the 'ultimate' solution (probably because there isn't any but self-discipline). One important tool that I found most helpful was `Reminders` on OSX, specifically the fact that I can put an alarm (one-off or recurrent) on each task. Given that Reminders are synced across devices (iPhone, iPad) and are available in the notifications center this helps me a lot when I'm on the move. One downside of using this method or any other is that your capacity to memorize the due tasks disappears as soon as you write them down. I'm not sure what's the psychological/neurological explanation for this, but it's true. If your task list is not that big, your brain is the best way to keep track of them. Otherwise be prepared to skip a few as soon as jot them down.

That was not the intention at all. In fact, the comment is quite sarcastic and if I'm to rephrase it, it will be: We're asking animals to be humans to grant them their freedom which is quite absurd.

To get this straight: we pulled animals from their 'righteous' sanctuaries, where they were free, put them in captivity, and now we're asking them to be human to set them free, again?

I see no harm in a browser dedicated for developers, best serving the web development purposes just as much as I don't see any harm with building mobile and desktop applications using IDEs and Simulators and then releasing them to the numerous platforms.

I believe this separation will lead to the possible introduction of many cutting edge implementations on the browser/engines level(s), for experimentation, before a more general deployment to the end users, which would be quite interesting imho.

Not to mention, developing new debugging tools that the end user doesn't necessarily need to have running in the background of his browser package. This would definitely alleviate the resource consumption of existing browsers and allows the developers to have a focus on the end user experience and not worry about developer specific branches.

I personally believe this is an evolutionary trait that has stuck with us across the cycles. I can't find scholarly articles that discuss this topic at the moment but I'm quite sure many have studied it.

People in general have an inherent need for 'heroes'. This need for an idolized leader, the protector of all and the 'savior of humanity' has manifested itself across the ages and I don't think there's a need to enumerate the instances. This recurrent phenomena will not fade away soon. I'm sure that in many cases these self-made achievers have thanked and acknowledged those who got them there, whether in public or in private. The problem is that the masses want only one hero and can only remember one.

I understand, there's a threshold beyond which the details of your code become somewhat blurry. I shouldn't have emphasized the duration as I'm not entirely sure what it amounts to, usually a week is enough for me :) The point is, find something that will distract you enough to forget these details, allowing you to become your target audience while writing the documentation. This is one way to zoom out and discover what is important and what is not.

You stop writing code for a 'week'. Don't 'touch' the codebase during that time. Come back after that duration has passed, re-discover the code and write the documentation then.

I've been using Mailvelope for a while, it's a good extension and works well. But yes, I share the same frustration regarding the private key storage in the browser.

Make 'peace' with your 'current' situation.

This does not mean 'accepting' it and 'acknowledging' that mediocrity is all you're bound to. This means that for the time being, you will make the 'best' of the opportunity 'at hand', you will work for a better one to present itself while eliminating all the negativity and irritation associated with the present.

Changing your mental state, to become a catalyst for progress instead of a shackle, is the actual problem and the real challenge. Work on this point, the rest is relatively clearer (side projects, another startup, better offer, fancier pay, more exciting challenges/problems to solve etc...).

I'm in the same position, at the same age, battling the same demons. The above is my realization after a prolonged phase of depression. 'Work with what you have to reach what you couldn't before'.

@benjiz, because an apolitical discussion is the act of sharing soulless text without any particular depth. It's like focusing on a very narrow property/aspect of the discussion while neglecting context. Political discussions are not bad, they're great and conduce to sharing different perspectives of the same story. Extremism and non-balanced bias on the other hand are what this platform should avoid and have been avoided in this discussion (I hope).

I share the same hopes for peaceful resolution pron, and I personally, truly, appreciate your endeavors. If there's any way we can combine efforts to reach the same goals in balancing the odds, I'm more than willing to invest my time (among other resources) in that. I'm afraid, though, that deep geo-political agendas govern this conflict and any if not all civilian initiatives are dwarfed compared to these forces at play. I have witnessed, first-hand Israel's destruction, from the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in the 80's, Qana genocide in the 90's to the attacks on Lebanon in 2006 and I'm more than familiar with this entity's capacity of destruction; making it hard to believe that these are non civilian targeting attacks with the purpose of self-defense.
