When I tried to do it, they added a £5/month thing to my account, but then also added a £5/month goodwill, so I wasn't paying for it. I have no idea what it is doing, but there is no filter anymore. I had to phone a few times before it worked though.

+1 for OCZ. I went through three Kingston drives in a year. This OCZ is over a year old now and still going strong

This has happened to me a couple of times, but it doesn't prove that GoDaddy are the ones who are actually registering them.

I would have preferred it if Apple had designed it to be the same thickness, given it a bigger battery, took out the CD drive and allowed us to replace SSD and RAM... As great as they are, I won't be getting one.. Stuff breaks too quickly for me.

I was lucky enough to have lunch with Steve Furber and my two of my old college lecturers a few months ago. A very fascinating man with lots of history.

When I was working for a company, I would get it an 8:15 and left at 17:00 on the dot. When asked if I could stay to do something which I felt could wait until the morning, I would say no and leave. I didn't get fired, instead I had a life. Working is not everything, there are much more important things in life.

PHP is nice... but if I could improve it, I'd like it to be not quite so loosely typed. I would like to specify the datatypes.

I'm really glad I have come across this... I've had this for a couple of years, about once or twice a month. For me it feels like something is applying a lot of pressure to the side of my head, accompanied by a very loud tingling sound... Only lasts for about two seconds, but not something I enjoy

I love Mac OS, but I definitely do not hate Bill Gates. He made computers affordable and accessible, while making a lot of money. A lot of that money has gone to charities which is great.

The only time I'm going to feel concerned about the sandboxing on Mac OS apps is if it's forced onto all applications.

If that happens, I shall leave Mac just like I did Windows and be forced to use Linux... I can't say I particularly like the new layout of Ubuntu so maybe I should just quite computing completely :'(

Yep - Buttons are bad enough, but things like sliders are just the worst things imaginable!!

I thought it might be worth looking into web workers, but everything seems to interact with the DOM so that's not much help either.

I'm writing really a very large app for the company I work for. We're using PhoneGap with HTML and JavaScript and have many plugins.

What we are not having problems with is the fact that we only really have a single thread to do everything. All I can say is that I'm glad it wasn't my idea to build it this way.

I agree. I set a process identifier and the time of the update.

I've been in a situation where I've needed to queue about 100k of messages. Each message unique with custom attributes populated also from MySQL.

I used to generate the messages and then insert them into queuing system but for 100k messages I never managed to make this fast... I have managed to queue all these messages in less than half a second using just one MySQL query.

If anyone has any better ideas, please let me know!

I imagine it would be possible to run games on remote servers, so people don't have to spend a lot of money on an amazing computer.

This is why I have my own server... If everything gets deleted, it's my fault (I should have been backing up). I'm not going to punish myself for not paying attention to my non-existent terms of service.

If you had put in the contract time that the notice should is a month (or maybe more) you might have not have the same problem.

I only need to give one week for my current job, and when I leave, that's probably all I will give.

A few of you said university might be a good route, and I do not disagree - But I'd much rather see how far I get without it, and leave that almost as a last resort.

And I will stick it out! I agree with what all of you have said about finishing a project is still finishing a project, even if it's not something I feel particularly passionate about.
