No, what it is is an acknowledgment that there are people who think rationally, and then there are those people who think you should fucking shut up and be burned at the stake for disagreeing with them. The idea that modern anti-theists are anything like our current theistic members of society is laughable, and honestly starting to make me wonder who cares if we turn into them.

Yeah, I wonder why certain people are allowed to obtain that many points to begin with? Almost as if you "play by the book" on a website dedicated to, wait for it, NOT playing by the rules.

That is actually very fascinating.

I understand very well how other people look at it. They ignore logic when it is convenient. They say, "Yeah, look at those flat earthers, bunch of silly idiots", then turn around and swear they hear god speak to them at the same time. It's delusional.

How does this not belong here if it could potentially have this big of an impact? This is exactly the type of thing hackers would be curious about. We want to know how a system would react to a change in the parameters and figure out if it is useful and how so. Why would we not be curious about something like this?

All it takes is for one bad apple to not install them correctly or use badly defected ones, and boom, people drinking water they should not. Sometimes, regulation IS the answer.

I imagine it's akin to management expecting you to spend your off hours learning all this "great new tech" while they think working off hours is reading online articles on hacker news to "stay up to date".

Duh, isn't it obvious that a whole part of business is trying to find ways to make money off the government, not just your customers? Tech has been doing this for a while if you are anyone at the exec level or have tried to understand what "business reasons" are when told that's why a bad technical decision is being made.

No amount of currency is going to work unless we acknowledge that every human life deserves certain basic rights, like a house, food, health, education, etc. If a job cannot provide these, then they are being exploited and we should stop the exploitation. No one is worth more than any other, and modern society letting this notion not be held first and foremost is a detriment and directly responsible for measuring people in terms of dollars and not inalienable rights.

I do, I think. No one wants to use a coin that also let's criminals do dark things with even less scrutiny than fiat currencies.

Well for one, we would attribute behavior we don't want in society to genes and/or the expression of those genes in a particular environment. Future treatment would be to note this, remove it from our genome, and see if said behavior is gone.

Actually, mainstream superdeterminism would allow us to radically change society and how we view norms. It would lead to radical changes in the criminal justice system for example. It just needs acceptance from people, and there is a lot people who stand to not benefit from these changes in society that are trying to make it harder to do so.

Agreed. I have to believe that there is magic, because my brain cannot handle never existing. These people are hopeless and we should probably label their beliefs as needing mental health rather than "sincerely held beliefs".

No one will ever trust a completely trustless coin, because if you can't trust each other, putting trust in an abstract concept isn't exactly a winning solution.

Human trust matters, not mathematical trust.
