Any public data on this? I would love to collab on some predictive modeling for cases like this. There are some sources but couldn't find anything comprehensive enough to be accurate, need more historical context comparisons etc.

Echo much of the replies, but you have the answer in your question. Find the guy/gal nearby with a laith and some machining tools that loves the same stuff the build it, break it, figure out why it broke, if your both still working on it after iterations of brokenness its probably working out, at worst your learning and enjoying it along the way.

Couldn't agree more, negative feedback loops tend to reproduce the same outcomes. Maybe I'm pessimistic but seems like most folks aren't reading much at all beyond the headlines and tend to just regurgitate the negative prose on topics they haven't bothered to do basic research on, or repeat whats trending. Things change, economies shift, were all a part of the whole no matter how disconnected we think we are. The social reinforcement of gloom and doom becomes the market of consumption. It's time we put our heads together to produce solutions, focus on what we can do now, be proud of what we did today. Yesterday already happened, tomorrow will be the result of what we do with the time we have.

Unsure of your sources on "round holes" being indicative of torpedo "hit". Most modern torpedoes rely on implosive forces rather than terrestrial impact holes you might be thinking of from solid material striking a target. Pressure and density play a role. The holes referenced are more likely the remnants of the salvage attempts by the contracted company which assisted in the recovery. While the Russian Government is not well known, based on what we are told, for transparency it is not necessarily indicidave of a "conspiracy", if a cover up was attempted its more likely to save face due to the incompetence and lack of operational and functional rescue systems, four failed attempts to retrieve any remaining survivors before the final fatal fire which depleted the remaining oxygen the crew had. It is a bleak outcome and many other countries where aware of what occurred, based on sonar and seismic data etc. These countries were ready to deploy rescue efforts which were initially refused. It Promethean, like sound design and synthesis etc., it involves a large degree of mathematical construction and convolution, abstract and concrete thinking an aptitude for visualization of multilinguistic constructs, utilizing a host of experiential and innate skills which can be as technical as you choose to research, understanding how hardware works with system design etc. It can be highly multidisciplinary in regards to any field. The device you are using took an emmense amount of combinational and collaborative intellect just to conceptualize, let alone execute the product as a whole. Forest through the trees... Understanding what the tools you are using are actually comprised of, beyond the physical materials, may open your eyes a bit.

Great post, not familiar with the language, definitely want to do more research to add more historical context for myself and learn a bit along the way. Interesting correlation with my experience with German, my first language. Moved to the US at a young age but kept conversational use at home and with family still in abroad. I decided to work on my fluency so took some classes during my undergrad, found out I was speaking a regional dialect, sounds like "slang" depending on where/how you learned the language. My family is from Hessen, my professor was from Berlin. High German is the "standard" but had never known due to lack of exposure in an educational/professional environment. After a lot of historical research I found a deep interest for how all languages progress, some meaning is gained and some is lost, or intrinsically disguised by different terminology. It's intriguing how much economics and social class norms and population mobility evolve many languages, among many other factors some of which are touched on in the blog.

I think we all need a break from "hype" cycles in general. Its become pervasive in every space, and IMO it correlates with how we consume and receive "information". News/posts on this subject have felt unique in how much attention it's gotten, I feel like a lot of it comes from lack of understanding about the technology from many posts especially those from "mainstream" media outlets with limited tech knowledge in general. The news cycle has absolutely turned "AI" into a marketing buzzword and feels hyperfocused on the negative. I'd say do a bit more research if your interested, no need to interact with it if you don't want to. My feeling on LLMs in general is relative to their use cases. LLM's are powerful tools for which can be useful/helpful and unfortunately can and will be leveraged in the opposite way. That said, what new tech advancement which has had a tenable and rapid influence on society hasn't had its speculative doom cycle. It will be a part of our lives, and in some ways has been for longer than many realize, I'm trying to educate myself more as well, there is definitely way too much bs to filter as is.

Thanks for the clarification, it was not my intent to spread rumors. Her openess about her mental illness was then another example of perseverance in the face of it, another example of what an amazing person she was.

I love my 14" M2, I considered the 16" but price is definitely a consideration as well as portability. I find the screen to be perfectly adequate for code and multitasking on the go as well as media consumptio, routine tasks etc. The 14" has some heft as well and can only imagin that the 16" would be heaver for when you are on the move. At home I use an external monitor, I also find myself with it in my lap. Personal preference and use case will always be a decision you have to make. Hope this helps.

This loss hits close to home for many, as seen in the comments. Many of us struggle with different mental health issues. We truly need to re-evaluate how we address mental health and our commitment to provide better services for those in need as well as reducing the stigmatization around mental illness as a whole. With so much background noise about so many things framed with negative connotations and the exponential pace at which it is increasing I fear we will see more and more loss related to mental illness. In my opinion we need to focus on how to re-ground ourselves in many ways, a lot of this may be attributed in part to the loss, both perceived and/or real, of social norms and the increasing disruption and distortion of good factual source material and how we access this information. With all the touted benefits of AI/ML it feels geared to economic gains rather than positive use cases for assisting us in life rather than the repetitious narrative of "replacing" us. My thoughts go out to her family and friends, and all those effected by this news. It's also easy to lose sight of the fact that many of us who are not visible in the mainstream deal with this on a daily basis with very little support, even with access to to "quality" care there has been a percievable declination in that metric of quality. A high proportion of intelligent people are prone to mental illness, or rather what socially and medically frame and define mental illnes as. For those with little to no access, or for example forced onto "care platforms" due to lack of resources the effects can be much worse. Best wishes to you all, if you are struggling reach out in any way you can, you matter, we all do.

I feel like we could definitely use more posts on company's hiring by x% new employees. Cutbacks are rough, I'm looking, learning and hanging in, I can't blame some for layoffs for the right reason's. Hopefully this restructures some new hiring with some better interview approaches.

Depends on what you are looking for specifically content wise, where do your interests lie? I have been similarly excited about physics and especially astrophysics as well as learning some theory in the quantum mechanical field. My interests are mostly hardware/some software related interests in quantum computation. A focus which has helped me learn, is working with wave functions especially how they relate to synthesis (music) in both creating sound as well as analyzing it and digital signal processing, noise reduction etc. Recently have been diving into analog circuit design and development and learning to code on the digital side of audio design. If that interests you I would love to share some YouTube channels that have been helpful with basics as well as more advanced material in that realm. Check out MIT's free classes available on there as well as Georgia Tech's Electrical engineering videos, there are a number of other good schools providing free content. Dr. Leonard Susskind always has great stuff related to more advanced physics and concepts. It's hard to narrow down a focus to recommend if your learning, especially when your excited about the various subjects, but it has definitely helped me to find something analogous, like synthesis for example, to apply what your learning. I struggled with some of the calculus, still do as I'm learning it as I go, never had too much formal exposure to it even in college. May have some suggestions if your into the math, and depending on your aptitude. Definitely interested to see what everyone adds to this thread, if you want more specifics let me know and I'll provide some suggestions, just let me know what you are interested in and I'll see if I know anything that might be a good fit.

"Study suggests", I generally avoid or at least read with more speculation as well as source checking with buzz word terminology such as this, facts support evidence, suggestions assume. Also n=1 study "suggests" lack of other supporting material.

Thabks for the response and the feedback. I agree wholly with your observations, and am aware of my own limitations in the field of topics mentioned. This is why I attempt to check my bias as consistently as possible. I realize my shortcomings and the potential to fall into the oroborus of bias and ideology. It's very easy to fall into self affirming traps and self statements, ex. "I KNEW IT!" feeling when I feel I found a confirmation of a conjecture I put forth to myself. I find I learn more from being wrong about certain things and correcting by learning from said mistakes or misconceptions. I rarely post to social media, other than my music sharing. This is really the first time I have put myself out there in this regard.

I do need to focus on a few (grounded and realistic) things at a time, as mentioned these topics are deep, singular topics in each of these fields take lifetimes of learning and espert experience, successes and failures. My primary focus (intruige) in regards to quantum theory has been based around the recent Nobel regarding Bell inequalities and the resulting experiments and the results. It has been something I have pondered for over a decade and have seen some co formations that I have an ability to at least ask some of the right questions with confirmational responses based on foundational and experimental research. Again realizing my own bias in truly knowing I understand these topics fully. My proposal, related to quantum physics/theory, has to do with our current perception of time, biological shortcomings in terms of synaptic delay, observation/experimentation and localization. Specifically around localization of time, i.e. Quantum clocks and superposition, perceived local time is only consciously calculated through and at the time of observation, again I'm being vague in scope, as the topic is very in depth and am limited in articulating my question fully in this format. Clocks in this regard may be extrapolated as interleaved non local waveform functions, hence my question regarding synaptic delay at the time of observation as well as measurement and how we measure, what experimental tools we utilize etc as well as relative field dynamics, elementary interaction, photon, phonon interaction, relevant things we have learned from CERN in regards to Higgs-Boson and the shortcomings of our understanding related to expected mass of particles resulting from those experements. I don't want this to get too tangential, just outlining where my current foci and interest lies in these fields. I am looking into Quiskit as a jumping off point regarding quantum computing.

Very interesting, gained a follower if not just for the intriguing topical discussion but more for the the prompt interaction regarding LLM and patturn recognition, (likely self biased due to lack of foundational and topical knowledge). Noticed in particular certain prompt/response input and output type spacing regarding ML interaction, also in the author's responses and prompts but also in the return outputs from the ML model examples. Appears to me that certain "functional" prompts/responses returns odd (non-numerical in this instance) type spacing. I suppose this is more of a prompt question of my own. How do these apparent word spacing returns/entries effect the ML training overall or effect user prompts, is it a functional return from input or output? Much of the differential type space inconsistencies appear to be located around linguistic prompt and return (string delimiters?) Examples such as double, triple space or something in between (derrived from my visual perspective without actual analysis of the site code) around functional language linked prompts. Words which denote a functional inference or a linking inference. Seems to be more concentrated around functional code language (definitive phrasing, ex. is, for, while, if etc.) as well as words which give or request more context linguistically, adjective and individual objective based functional language especially in the prompts to the ML systems. Not well versed with the topic(s) as of yet.

I've been diving into linguistics, have always had better aptitude with language than mathematics, especially as a bilingual individual, German being my first language. However studying linguistics and the interconnection with math led to a personal breakthrough specifically physics/calculus related. However I am self teaching and really finding quantum mechanics/theoretical quantum physics fascinating and fairly comprehensible and have been working on some things in that realm, that said I feel like I'm most likely falling into a self bias trap, i.e. self confirmation based on inadequate information and missing fundamentals. I've tried to focus it more into a test project, specifically in the realm of cryptography, I have a fairly high aptitude for patturn recognition. I'm planning on utilizing it in designing both an embedded hardware/software application for security/authentication. It's difficult to articulate via this format, but there are through lines with a number of fields, specifically music synthesis, a hobby of mine for now, as well as circuit design, which I am also teaching myself, building my own eurorack synth modules. I'm still limited in my coding skill so that's kind of my start point right now. Deciding on a language is proving to be difficult especially with the new memory safe parameters, NIST standards etc. I have some experience with C++, planned on working more with python. The logic seems sound but don't have anyone to really sound off to help focus on things I'm inevitably missing. Apologies for the word salad, it's a lot to try and explain. My educational background is in social science research and cs networking. Had a lot of road blocks in the last 2 years which led to some personal hardships (not unique considering) which seem to be resulting in some positive breakthroughs. But I'm scraping 40 and and time certainly flies by, still paying off student loans etc, school really isn't an option unfortunately at this point, academia would be an ideal place/way to meet people. Bottom line is I need to nail down specifics to focus on and produce project results, but not an undertaking I feel I can or should solo. I'm relatively intelligent and might be better suited in a position to promt the smarter folks in the room on some of what I outlined. Hope this was somewhat comprehensible.

One with the opportunity to meet different kinds of people (not online), less judgemental and more collaborative. A life with multidisciplinary educated folks who want to share knowledge rather than compartmentalize it. The ability to reach out with creative ideas in different networks of knowledge without being passed over as a non expert. Less algorythmicly automated, or more transparent automation so I can better understand how my data is used/abused. A simpler life, basic and sustainable amenities, a job that feels fulfilling, work is work were not always going to love it, a community built around helping each other thrive. Less touch screen more tactile in every aspect. I have great ideas I want to execute on, but find it so hard to reach people in certain disciplines so I can get the right kinds of feedback. I can't drink due to a past medical procedure and this interestingly narrowed my social life, bolstered my physical health but not my mental health. Overall a more natural life that integrates with technology and progress, less fear mongering, more constructive criticism aimed at learning rather than shaming. Overall a freer experience, it's one thing to be told how free you are yet feel imprisoned by non normative systems that feel vacuous.
