I'm so, so glad I don't have to care about deliverables requirements anymore. Every studio has totally different set of requirements that are as complex as this and it's a real bear to make sure you're fully in compliance with them.

How do you imagine sites that are ad free would appear? What's their business model? I don't think that's a given, especially since most users won't pay (see the rise of freemium style apps vs paid ones in the app store).

How are these false claims? The executive order directly mentions religious grounds and allows "minority religions" in the 7 listed majority Muslim countries to be allowed in while prohibiting the rest.

I'm enrolled in the OMSCS program currently (nearly graduated) while working full time. I started the program because I was already taking the online courses with Coursera, edX, etc, and it felt like a natural fit to get a degree while I continued to do so.

I didn't have a Computer Science undergrad degree, so perhaps I have a different outlook on this than you did. I'm currently working as a software engineer, so I'm also not forgoing earning a living by taking the time off from school.

In other words, while I can understand why you feel disappointed by your educational experience, there are other lenses through which this program makes sense. I feel good about having gone through it so far and I'm looking forward to finishing.

I'm guessing the negative votes have to do with painting a group of people in a casually pejorative way. The left, as a whole, does not rejoice in censoring all sorts of speech. The left is filled with many people with a variety of opinions and many of them value civil liberties as you presumably do.

An audience can have more than one interest. For example, tech sections in newspapers are roughly analogous to political stories on HN.

Yeah, that's a good suggestion. I should start storing and using that info. My hypothesis is that humor is inversely proportional to the number f helpful votes. For example, 0 of 57 helpful is probably funnier than 3 of 3.

A Twitter bot called @AmazonArtReview that tries to find funny 1-star reviews of media on Amazon. It's using some crude machine learning and just a fun side project.

Finding humor's tough! I've read some papers on finding humor in reviews, e.g. https://cs224d.stanford.edu/reports/OliveiraLuke.pdf. That's been helpful. It'd be great if I could use the Yelp review set for finding humor as they did but the humor doesn't translate between data sets. Mostly it's still manual curation, which is ok too.

Listen to software conference talks! It's true that some of the more technical ones will not translate as they require too much concentration. Ideally, you can find some that are more conceptual or do not rely directly upon watching the slides.

I, too, generally dislike software podcasts in the car. For me, they usually are paced more conversationally, so I find that I get disinterested.

Yeah, I use Terraform and like it quite a bit. Terraform tends to be quite responsive to changes in AWS land and `terraform plan` is incredibly useful. It's saved me from blowing away instances a few times.
