I attempted this on a VM inside a Linux host and got a lower privileged user from inside the guest VM to ssh to a root-privileged user outside on the host. Both were authenticated to Tailscale with the same gmail account, so from an OAuth perspective, this is valid. From the OS perspective though, the host SSH port is blocked, and a guest should never get full root access to the host or see the host's resources.

I am not sure if I am confused about something, or maybe there are prod use-cases where the same IDP identity should have different roles/privileges depending on the machine, and Tailscale SSH breaks that?

Most orthodontists will say anything except water is a no-no - coffee and tea will stain your aligners, and they almost always permeate the aligners into your teeth, causing decay until the next brushing. Juice is even more harmful with the sugar and fibre. Also, hot beverages can deform the aligners. I know cases of people who tried having drinks with straws, and realized it wasn't a viable solution. The drink still ends up permeating the aligners.

Read in a book: "If you spoke to your friends like you speak to yourself, would anyone ever want to be your friend?" ("Living with a heart wide open"). The line instantly changed my self-talk from negative and dystopian to compassionate and constructive i.e. things like scolding myself when I missed a freeway exit while driving. Turns out my case is not uncommon - most people call themselves stupid 8-10 times a day.

Hit the local library for audiobook CDs. I agree its old-fashioned, but my 2012 Honda Civic has a CD player and the Menlo Park library had some great collection of tech/business audiobook CDs. I began experimenting with playing them on the drive to work and am pretty happy with the results.

Great initiative. Reading Joel's blog was a fun and inspiring part of growing up in the programming world. As a woman in CS, I look forward to see this expanded to allow more of us to participate, not just NYC residents.

Maybe I am missing something here, but why is 1 a neat problem? You are increasing the radius by 1 meter so the length of the band is now 2pi(r_e + 1) making the increment 2*pi meters. Is the surprisingly low increment the point of the problem?

The public face for Girls Who Code is Reshma Saujani (law / politics background). As krstck pointed out, the public faces here are Mindy Kaling, Chelsea Clinton. While there are engineers involved behind the curtains in each of these programs, I don't like the fact that the ones who stand to gain the most (publicity, credibility, funding, access to resources and powerful contacts) are people who don't have anything to do with tech themselves except flying around the country giving talks about how everyone should code (Reshma Saujani, I am looking at you). I am being bitter here, but I would hope to live in a world where real engineers are the women in the limelight for the kids to look up to.

The box has a snapdragon 600 chip in it, so not exactly underpowered. They also seem to be addressing the 'immersive' segment more than 'Candy Crush' type of games - they mention Asphalt 8 will be supported soon and Amazon has been hiring/acqui-hiring AAA-title devs for broader support since a while now.

AFAIK, these boards can be ordered in any quantity from 1 to 100s, so they should be a good start for a development kit. Intrinsyc offers a Linux distribution for the 8074 SoM. Not too sure about the maturity of Linux support, but I am expecting updates in the near future, and will post them here. Engineer at Qualcomm here - I did check with our biz dev folks and we have mechanisms in place to supply in smaller quantities (a few hundreds..)

I am not familiar with the categories/collections of games Open Pandora caters to, to answer that. I would definitely recommend a high-end chipset (SnapDragon800/600)for someone building a gaming box. On the other hand,I see on wiki that Pandora intends to support older games through console emulators, so an older/cheaper GPU should be fine if those are the bulk of the targets.

I work for Qualcomm and am surprised that the blog post author didn't consider our SoCs - it would meet all the requirements and I believe its not too much hassle to source from us.
