The main problem I have with Backblaze and AWS is that there is no budget limit on transfers.

I would like to tell the provider; limit downloads to $500, then reply 509 to further requests.

I guess that depends on your toolchain.

For Java, I use Maven which have some powerful tools (Maven Site) to create test-reports, documentation, api-docs, coverage reports, diagrams and much more. It's also easy to extend yourself.

Django and Webpack 11 years ago

The ReadMe should start with an abstract explaining what the project does and how I can benefit by using it.

Right now I have no clue what it is. Perhaps a clone of django-pipeline?

Perfect Security 11 years ago

Not entirely true, the world is not that binary.

I can't remember where I read it, but a locked door is quite effective in preventing burglary as forcing the lock or crashing a window would greatly increase the chance being detected.

For those who does not know; the site was hacked/defaced a few months ago for supporting "Je Suis Charlie". This is most likely a joke poking fun at the hackers.

I have only fleeting interest in the subject so I've only read one titled "What every body is saying" by Joe Navarro. It did teach me a few things, but didn't really strengthen my interest or desire to go more to more depth in the field.

Firebug 2.0 12 years ago

This is good news, Firebug is a steady companion in my work. The UI is consistent, no elements moving around between releases. It works with Django web applications, which the built-in devtools does not. And allows me to persist the log of network connections between page reloads.

That's interesting... Reload the page with JavaScript disabled, and suddenly the page is riddled with links to retailers of Cialis, Viagra, loans and such.

Is this some kind of trick to get more Google hits?

AFAIK you need the same IV for both encryption and decryption.

Some calculate an IV using existing components (such as has of email or name or such), some always use 0x0 as IV. But safest method is to have a random IV (preferably also stored in a HSM along with the key) per encrypted account.

Some time ago I saw the documentary "Food Inc." where they show this process with ammonium hydroxide and ignorant as I am about the food processing industry, I was negativey surprised.

There is still more going on and although the documentary may be a bit sensationalist, if just 10% is true it's still appalling what the industry is doing to cut the costs. And I wonder if impact on human health and environment can be good in the long run.

But at least for me it made a difference, I think about what I eat and I try to choose organic, locally produced and less pre-processed food. Probably I'm imagining things, but I feel better, have more strength and being less tired after work.

My partner had the idea to try an old-fashion "startup" for ourselves as soon as we can get a piece of land. With chickens (eggs), beekeeping and growing vegetables, we can hopefully take a step further away from the processing industry.

Facebook is a private company and depends on income from advertisers to provide a "free" service. So in reality it is the advertisers who control Facebook I would say, and therefore have some weight to throw around.

I would dare to say this could be a contributing factor to the state of politics and law. Essentially, laws and regulations are bought by the highest bidder.

I think many agree with me that neither religion or money should have influence on direction of politics.

For the anonymity on legislation; No. Legislation, political- and judicial processes IMHO be 100% transparent.

Micromanagment is not always a bad thing, and Steve Jobs is one shining example of this. Of course not everyone is good at it, but time will tell how this ends up.

My guess is that current management have become stale, comfortable and somewhat corrupted. Recruiting favors those with connections within the company, not the ones with experience, knowledge or brilliance. She could of course outright fire managers, but that could lead to worse consequences than micromanagment would.

Anyway, time will tell.
