Strongly depends on the company as well. In a big org it can take years of work at a senior level to get that title. And only if there is a “business need”.

I’ve been using Remote Desktop to a windows environment in the cloud for a while. It’s been pretty great actually. As long as you have a Bluetooth mouse an IPad makes a great thin client in a pinch.

I know people want MacOs, but it’s a workaround that works.

They are all getting more expensive and all losing quality content. It is becoming increasingly hard to find a specific show I want to watch. Sometimes it’s on Netflix, other times Hulu. Sometimes something I want to watch isn’t even being streamed. It’s just massively confusing.

Shameful? Just because you dislike it doesn’t mean everyone has to.

The thing I have trouble ‘hoarding’ is tech. I don’t have a lot of it but it mounts over time. Old laptops/desktops. Gaming consoles, etc.

I feel that throwing these things away, especially the stuff with batteries, isn’t the correct way to handle it.

So I’ve kept it around meaning to do research to understand how best to get rid of it all.

this is a project my girlfriend said yes to buying immediately. Until she saw the price. Its about $2250 too expensive. I know its cost and whatever. But to make this feasible for your average person it'd have to come down in cost ALOT.

To me I read this as Huawei is already a “state controlled” entity. So this is egregious but expected by them.

I’m a big fan of Tony. Everyone should listen to the episode where he was on the Lex Friedman podcast. It’s pretty interesting.

I work remote, if I want to do anything computer related outside of work then it basically *has* to be on a laptop. I just can’t commit to spending more time at my desk for personal projects / etc. An efficient/fast laptop that I can use wherever (coffee shop / GFs house / Parents) is a game changer for me. Every Windows laptop I’ve owned has required to me be tethered to a wall socket after 1-2 hours of use. These MacBooks literally last an entire weekend of moderate - heavy use. It’s truly wild and is an experience that I crave for a windows laptop.

Previous laptops and current surface devices do support ARM, but IMO nothing MSFT has put out has been serious. (Looking at you Surface Pro X). This targeted solution correctly identifies the main problem with Windows on ARM. Lack of developer support. Outside of internal MSFT dev support no one has taken Windows/ARM support seriously. I hope these dev kits represent a wider market push that ultimately leads to better Windows laptops on ARM. (Ones that can close to gap with the current MacBook lineups).

It looks like this does support display over USB-C - the tech specs have a snippet saying that you should use DP over USB-C so you see the BIOS.
