Don't f'ing pay those bastards. I realize that it's cheaper to pay them than fight them. I would love love to see you raise money online and fight them instead. I would buy into this cause in a heartbeat.
Not sure if you're confused about what Parse is or whether you weren't being precise with your words, but Parse _or_ native iOS app development isn't comparable.
Are you asking whether it's safe to depend on a service like Parse/Stackmob as your backend or are you asking about the pros and cons of building native apps vs html5/hybrid?
I don't see it. And the FREE TRIAL button implies there's some sort of subscription fee. Uhh, hardly a "competitor."
Hmm, am I missing something. Aren't folks that have crazy amount of traffic going to underpay? And if rackspace is making money at the end, doesn't it mean that by definition that those users without a crazy amount of traffic is overpaying.

Maybe i'm not on the same page as the article author on what he meant by "event driven" but if he's talking about websockets/comety web servers, then as I mentioned in a comment below, the difference is that in a traditional web server the customer has to keep calling back to know the status of the pizza (polling) versus having the pizzeria deliver or call the customer back for pickup (server push). Fewer communiques overall.
Hmm, perhaps a closer analogy:
Traditional Web Server:
The pizza shop receives a call for the initial order and starts the pie. Then the customer calls back periodically to check if the pie is done because the pizza shop cannot call back or deliver.

Yeah, I figured this out afterwards as well - and I even read through the comments and saw the post about this question. The rep didn't exactly lie but was certainly not super clear about it.
This offer should have been stated: "Purchase the first 1.5 months _then_ receive a $100 credit." IMO, they made this purposefully vague.
It worked for me around 10 AM EST. It said there was abou 250 or so remaining.
