Unfortunately it can't be avoided. I've always asked the question and most will say they work alone but then proceed to have team members do the work. It can become a big waste of time.

This post doesn't contemplate one of the biggest problems on Odesk. The best of the "team" will perform the test. Then they put one of their low level team members on after the team leader passes the test.

The only way I have learned to work around the problem is to require use of the odesk time tracker with WEBCAM. Can't hide who is doing the work with the WEBCAM taking shots of the person. :)

I completed the Adwords videos on Lynda.com. Very comprehensive. Actually probably went through all the videos twice to make sure I understood it fully.

Sure, violence isn't usually directed at co-workers. I don't think I've ever seen that happen (it does happen of course but is fairly rare). I did have a couple that attacked a customer or two but that was after being provoked. In those cases, they didn't have any prior offenses so weren't convicted felons.

You can't stop thieves though. You never want to insure against that - you will always lose.

Having represented these people for 15 years, no. Non-sexual and non violent. Whats left. Some form of theft - worse for a company than violence. Multiple DWIs? Drunk. Drug offenses? No.

Can you give an idea of how much lower the cost per click could be with a very high quality score (ie 5% of Googles suggested cost per click)?

When there's a substantial amount of money involved Google has great customer service. Never had a problem getting issues resolved with my Adwords account.

Crunchbase shows the company took $270k in seed 3/1/13. Why would you take the seed funding when you were doing so well?

You're relying on Crunchbase data? It appears (now I could be wrong) that even the Crunchbase data on your own company is wrong. Crunchbase shows referly raised $2m. Is that correct? If the Crunchbase data on your own company is wrong, how can you possibly rely on that data to evaluate other VCs/companies?

So you believe a company can charge $99 for a yearly service and then say "by the way, we may increase prices in 30 days if we decide to do so." So what happens to the $99 I paid?

They breached the contract by charging the additional fees. A company can't change the terms and say "whoops, that plan didn't work better start charging for small orders."

This would be equivalent to signing a contract and, on the reverse side of the contract, it stating that the drafter of the contract is not bound by the terms. Can't do it. Both parties are bound or neither is.

I've tried this with 6 different Fiverr people using a unique signup code. Not a single user from it. There is no way they are posting these flyers in 50 locations per the ad on Fiverr. They threw up a couple on bulletin boards flooded with flyers.

It the beginning, yc had much more interaction with their startups and it's clear that they wanted the startup to survive at any cost. Once the model grew larger there were just too many startups to mentor. Then, pg wanted them to fail as quickly as they could if they could not make something of their company quickly. That way yc would only have to mentor what he considered the strong companies.

I'm not doubting at all what you say as far as views, likes etc. I think, however, you are quite naive as far as Youtube deleting videos. Sure getting view counts in the millions in a day will get your video deleted but not 6k in a day. It would be nice if you could post the portfolio company's video so we could see if it had a viral nature to it.

Also, a video getting that many legitimate views in a day should have scored consecutive views in the following days - of course this is the nature of a video going viral.

Noticed some pretty bad complaints from customers on Techcrunch seemingly alleging click (or in this case play) fraud. Do you have anything yet in place to prevent play-fraud?

It's very difficult to find good programmers. I would suggest finding someone on HN that has a very good rep and using him to sort through and find quality ones. One of the biggest challenges is that, even when you find quality programmer(s), most will attempt to outsource to crappy devs. I found out that the sv dev firm I hired, outsourced to $4.50 hour ukraine devs on odesk.
