Yeah, the discovery institute is just another creation science cover front. No science, just 'truth'. They try hard to look legit. And a fascinating fact is they are in Seattle of all places. It's a 'the earth is 9000 years old somehow' place and "let's cast suspicion on all science that contradicts the bible".

so what should they do? explain how they should think about inviting your kid to events that they might worry would be too much? It's an awkward conversation for them to have too. What is the consideration? is this different for every autistic kid?

Since the patlive service and all those 'answering services' that you get are basically faciliating a scam, I'm sure a serious prosecutor could get a court order telling them to pass the information on that they had about the underlying person.

If it was a reloadable card, you can still figure it out with more effort. You threaten to sue them into oblivion as facilitating criminal actions, and you get them to get you on a real phone number with the scammer, and then you track them down that way. You just have to try harder.

A reporter could pursue this by getting a job with that firm and tracking backwards.

I can't imagine why this ever would make sense. Only scammers would benefit would accept this, because of the lack of clarity in ownership, it's like a deliberate attempt to circumvent normal financial transactions, which only benefits scammers.

It strikes me as the same thing as the fake-check auto purchase scams that infest different on-line auto sales channels.

I hate your business helping middlemen scalpers. Middlemen scalpers are just barely different than phone scammers. It may not be technically illegal, but it's a detriment to society.

When (probably not an if at this point) there are meat substitutes that are palatable to carnivores, will vegetarians accept them, meaning eat them? It's an interesting question, but I expect there will always be people that like the current vegetarian no meat lifestyle, even if there are non-meat but meat-like substitutes they'll avoid them.

I do love a burger, even though I feel like I'm moving toward the veggie lifestyle for health and environmental reasons. I do have one vegetarian friend who likes meat-like substitutes :-).

The only way that Taiwan will be in China in the near future will be if there is a conquering war from China invading Taiwan, or a long period of attrition where China wears down the west and succeeds in putting sycophantic leaders in charge of Taiwan who weaken her military. Taiwan is not in China. The democratic government in Taiwan does not consider itself to be under the sway of the more powerful, richer country that they lost a civil war to.

A lot of people in the US are uncomfortable and many people are alarmed when a political candidate says god wants them to win, Christian or not.

Software engineers are unlike almost any other advanced technical field, as in there is so much demand and so much change in the field that degrees aren't as important. After a few years of experience, that's what matters more. But i bet that first job is hard to get.

And what do you mean by that, including evolution. besides christianity taking over religious thought in roman society, what does original sin have to do with that, just the philosophical impact?

sounds like an income tax - not legal in this state. but sure, taxing the rich corps makes sense.

The state supreme court in the 1930s heard a court case on a then newly enacted income tax and said it was unconstitutional. So it's still presumed to be the same. Seattle has created a kind of test income tax separately that they are trying to use to overturn that court case.

Those are impressive sounding achievements. I haven't heard of all of those, can you provide references or details about the stories?

But we've already have many companies claiming they would build nationwide networks and it never happened. They are broken, etc. Only tesla has build a worldwide network that works well, and has stood up to the test of time.

This looks like a serious issue that the faa should investigate. Since they look at so many problems and frequently issue repair orders, recalls, etc by certain dates, why would they treat this particular issue so differently?

I also thought the article's trustworthiness based on how it was written and presented was difficult to ascertain. I had never heard of that publication.

I naively thought Washington could mean Seattle :-) But they mean DC. They do mention in the article that Seattle is kind of a lesser but visible part of S.V.

well google is a money making enterprise, so is say medium, the blogging service. medium aren't doing anything to help other publishers, just themselves, right? i think google has done some stuff to help the world, the internet, but they are so big when they make changes to reduce spam say, millions or thousands of people get pushed out of the way too.

you can use them without being tracked by watching in anon mode, or deleting your cookies first. google doesn't block you. i watch it that way all the time. and its free.

Can you expand on that? Did she make irrational comments, accuse people of impossible acts, was she threatening? I looked at the 1.5 minute video someone copied out and she was upset but not frothing at the mouth.

okay, maybe i don't get that. Is that what the point that was in the supposed shooter's screen grab with 300k views and 10c of payment was about? I had forgotten about the problems around terrorist or violent racist videos and ads for random stuff showing up on them so youtube was going to cut off advertising on such videos - I guess google screwed it up and went too far?

It seems very unfair the way this works at youtube and there's no human to appeal to. I can see that would be frustrating. So there's no other place to take their videos to get money?

I remember a time when there wasn't a place where people could get money for playing video games, except maybe a few people working at computer magazines writing reviews.

But I also still think theres also a lot of similar content for certain broad categories. Like say exercise videos.
