You don't even need to do that, just get the video to start playing and then press F12 to open the dev tools as the video will keep streaming and you'll still be able to see the network requests despite the messages.

Just looked this up for myself and it's indeed partially correct (mostly webp, jpg, png, etc though).

You left out an important part which is that they're proxying these requests through their own servers to avoid the source being found.

This way they could be placing the files on servers that actually require some sort of authentication such as a login page and once that's done the sky is their limit as you could even be hosting files on Discord and it would be very difficult to find the source.

User -> Pirate proxy server -> Github (or some other site)

Most ads load asynchronously now so it won't really slow the site down. As for your revenue, it depends a lot on your traffic and where it's from.

Could it simply be that you have auto-join enabled and that you're connecting to another network in that area?

It does however both surprise and annoy me that a cable is required for running this in 2024 which is the reason to why I personally never use it.

The reason being that I'm against oversimplification and I believe it dumbs the community down. The beauty of HN for me is how primitive and free from clutter it is so that I can focus on the content.

Technically it's very easy to add the black bar as it's already added manually and all that would be needed is to add a "data-id=" which would contain the news ID and a regular "id" to the black bar's "<td>" and once clicked it would send you to "https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=[DATA-ID]" (perhaps also add "cursor: pointer" to the CSS as well to change the cursor when its hovered).

Again, this is trivial and can be done with minimal work, but it should not be needed at all.

I don't think this is needed as it's very obvious who it's dedicated to. If you don't know about the event, then all you need to do is to literally just go through the first two pages (probably just as you would when you're visiting the site which is why you cam in the first place) and you will see it mentioned.

I personally don't think there's a need for this as this is not Reddit and the average user should be able to figure this out on their own.

I don't think they implement that into the cars as developers have to consider that a car may be unused for a longer time and perhaps even be completely discharged.

I think this would be the best approach for you as you would get all the advantages of having a new car while still remaining "off-the-grid" as long as you don't bring your phone with you.

If you mean that the goal of this is to attract advertisers by seeing a larger view count, then that doesn't make any sense either as I don't think there's any doubt among advertisers that YouTube is the leading video platform online.

Good answer and I'm using Maxmind for this. I wasn't aware that they would record ISP changes just because one of their clients was using their IPs a lot and I thought this would only happen if you register the IP on your own ISP (similar to how you purchase dedicated IPs and register them on your own company).

Right so the ISP should saw AWS like it does for other streamers on Kick, except for XQC (checked like 2-3 other streams). How come it says Twitch on XQC's stream and AWS for the other streams?

I tried 3-4 sites and they all seem to be working well. The only advice I can come with is that you should add some instructions or maybe change the text of the bookmarklet as I first thought it was a button.
