The way they talk about cyber security fixes makes clear that they are in bed with the government in order to get ahead of Anthropic.

Russian Oligarchy is actually the best comparison there is.

Some advantages this gives OpenAI:

- Altman takes away Musk's power as Trump's favourite tech friend.

- the government won't punish OpenAI too hard, because it makes money when OpenAI does well.

- the government can look at the user's data without any problems.

- OpenAI's competitors are forced to give the government a share in their companies too.

- when OpenAI sells shares to the public, investors will trust it more because the government is involved.

- every American could get a yearly check from OpenAI's profits, so voters will protect OpenAI.

- Sam Altman becomes friends with politicians from all sides, so nobody dares to investigate him.

The US government is clearly not interested in security of the models - otherwise they would not have only frozen the latest model (that is only a bit better than the previous), but all - and not only for US citizens, but for all people.

Given what's happening in the US, I suspect Musk is trying to slow down both companies and damage their funding. His goal is pretty obviously to get an advantage over Anthropic and OpenAI.

Maybe pointless to get an answer, but not pointless to make someone think about it.

You don't have to mention details, but is it internally a topic that your CEO hasn't even publicly criticized the Anthropic model freeze and are open ai folks seeing through the Musk/xai game that is in play here?

If they do it, they should mark the post as such as give an explanation. Otherwise you never know if uncle "Sam" called and asked it to be treated as such.

Why would you need to do so?

I just hope there's huge protest. I hope people just cancel the subscription. I fear people will just accept the terms. The result will be a kill switch for the US government and a clean distinction between national and foreign users so spying will become legal. Surely Anthropic hasn't allowed the NSA connect so far, - openai clearly did (see their board members).

French english speakers usually have a quite good vocabulary. Getting to the point of speaking english is a milestone that's quite difficult for french speakers though.

I don't want them to analyze my data. If want to know, they should ask me by sending me a link to a survey.

If you've ever used Cursor, login, make sure privacy setting is on and contact them to say you want all your data deleted if there is some stored. Then delete your account.

Ok, but then the government's argumentation doesn't make sense? If the reason for shutting it down is that it's dangerous, only shutting it down for non US citizens doesn't solve the problem.

You'd need to relocate all employees and close all offices in the US. I don't know any Anthropic employees, but I guess their moral has limits and they would never do that. They would also lose valutable time and fall behind openai during that time.

I mean it should be clear to everyone that this is just the consequence of Sam Altman's lobbying activities.

These guardrails are solely a reason for using your data for training purposes. Every flagged message can be used for training.

So they use this "suspicious behavior" as a reason to train on our data.

I'm very suspicious as they sent out an "We're updating our Privacy Policy" email right before the launch. I fear they try to take advantage of their market position by doing things with user data no other company could do because they know users don't have another choice.

I don't think they deserve your sympathy. I don't think there is an employee there that couldn't find another great job somewhere else.

On my phone. I assume they get to the cloud via my phone in the first place anyway.

It seems to me the max memory you can buy in a laptop stagnated for the past 3 years or so.
