Even if Valve holds a significant market share of the PC Gaming market, this is a harsh conclusion. There are other significantly more expensive and restrictive options, such as the Windows Store for Windows, or the Play Store for Android, or the App Store for iOS and MacOS. PC has much free-er and more accessible options for indie developers, like itch.io. It's probably the least monopolistic gaming market out there. The struggle of course is advertising and reach, not sure who the gate keepers for that were with TTD, maybe magazines?

Conversely, I would not be shocked to see the vast majority of multi-linguals to be low-income immigrants.

FFmpeg's AAC DEcoder is busted with regards to stereo PNS, and the bug may be in other AAC decoders too, so we work around it in the encoder. Since no other encoder used PNS, the bug was not found until now.

I don't know what PNS is, but I bet this has been bothering someone's niche use-case for 20 years

Do you have old 2000s era Argos catalogues? Argos is a shop in the UK, I've been tracking down old catalogues to see if my childhood CD player is in there, can't find evidence of it anywhere and so many were made. The catalogues are sort of rare but were given away for free, now people sell old ones on ebay

I think a never-ending pool of young, fresh, and naïve graduates happy to sell their soul to make video games has been a strong contributor for low wages for a while. Any time someone gets too senior, just replace them with another graduate. Naturally, the product quality and timescale suffers too.

This is great news, unions not only improve working conditions, but also improve the final product by not having underpaid stressed staff with high turn-over. It's a good sign for the future product quality of any company to see workers unionise.

Licensing rarely makes sense

GrapheneOS doesn't give you root access, citing security issues it introduces. You could re-compile your own copy with root access, though not sure if we'll then be back to some non-certified OS that can't make payments...

This applies to most Smeg products. Which is a shame, they used to be really good and long-lasting.

This is the same for every internet service, and the primary experience when signing up to big centralised services like Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter. If they think your account is suspicious in any way, instantly gone with no way to appeal, I've seen a number of friends experience this recently and they're not even outliers using a VPN or 'unusual' email or anything. At least with federated services, you have the opportunity to keep backups of your profile and sign-up with another instance whenever you want.

This is the same philosophy as the creator, the sign-up flow does not ask you to select a server it defaults you to loops.video Maybe the app is different? I haven't tried it yet

If they turned out to be magic I'd be more surprised

I do a similar thing but use the start menu search, Ctrl-C, WIN, Ctrl-V, Ctrl-A, Ctrl-X. You can do it all in one hand and can get really fast, assuming the start menu doesn't lag behind. There's also the downside that it publishes all of your clipboard content to Bing search so maintain vigilance for confidential data...
