US resident here. I’ve never seen a handle like [0]. Every car I’ve been in has handles like [1]. I don’t know if I’d be able to get out of [0] in the event of an emergency without being made aware of it prior.
Same. In fact, lofi seems to really disrupt my focus. There are times where a beat/kick is so loud it becomes disruptive. I also like background sounds and true ambient music.

With tech in full meltdown
The stock market does not reflect the reality - in fact, you might say the market is coming back to reality. There’s been small layouts but to call it a “meltdown” is a bit much.
While I have no data to support this, I don’t think “regular people” are purchasing OEM parts, renting tools for a $1,200 deposit, and risking self-repair. To me, the idea is almost absurd.
Here’s an important part:

For me, I’d convict. This isn’t a case of ‘autopilot’ as much as it’s a case where a person purposely (with intent) set his speed above legal limits and did not maintain the attention while doing so.. causing the death of two individuals on their first date.

I worked for a company that was saved from bankruptcy due to COVID (i.e. product was instantly of high demand). Instead of using this “gift” to stabilize the company, management used it to raise their wages, hire outside consultants, and further invest in our out losing strategy.
I’m strongly in favor of gatekeeping. I know that’s a bad word to some but that’s how you retain focus and purpose. It used to be the “normies” that you’d shield your group from, now it’s the “normies”, griefers, and the perma-offended.
I’d agree that it’s in the top 3 non-kernel/os pieces of software. The part it plays in finance, accounting, and engineering is staggering.
The main reason is that almost all content online comes from people who are mentally ill.

CEOs need to be compensated on business metrics - not all financial. The metrics should account for short- and long-term growth, employee retention, public relations, etc. If you tank the company, you walk away with nothing.

There has to be more to it. If not, a simple refusal to sell would allow you to move the market. If the sellout bundle is profitable enough, why doesn’t everyone start a generic drug company to be sold and retire rich?

Google’s hardware is lackluster, their services come and go and are bloated with telemetry, their search is worse than ever, there’s no live customer support person to talk with in the event of a problem, and there’s no unified vision.
Engineering is good, leadership is abysmal.

I agree with you. I have Bombas and Hanes socks. I don’t notice much of a difference. I don’t care about the 10x life as I don’t plan to keep my socks more than a couple years.
I agree with most of what you said but when you compare COVID to malaria (at least in the US) it’s a bit silly. Malaria kills ~5 a year, COVID has killed ~500,000 and had life-long impacts on many more.
