I heard about the software. I shall investigate more thoroughly :)

The batch software installation idea was not really my first choice. I was thinking more about doing a web application - had many ideas already in place - but this wretched 'no database' restriction has ruined nearly every classmates' plans including myself.
The point is, I find it quite difficult to think of a project not involving a database. That's one of the main reasons I'm asking for advice here.
I really had hoped to do something spectacular for my final year project.
That's what I spent a day discussing with the Head Of Department. Every student is disgruntled about this restriction.
I know about ninite.com - the concept is quite similar, except that this one if a bit more flexible - it would allow the system admins to create their own auto-installation modules.
yup, not dev here, found this and thought HN might find it interesting too - and was right! :)
Thank you for those wise words! Will keep that in mind and try to improve the quality of the posts :)
Edit: Actually it's a brilliant suggestion. Thank you for this biot!
seriously, somebody else would have just dropped a link to the blog. I just leave a comment with a summary of the project which I think might be useful for other people, e.g. license type and all.
However, since seems like the consensus that I should not post a link to the site, I will refrain from doing so, but will still contribute to HN wholeheartedly :)
glad somebody caught onto that :P
c'mon, it's not that bad, it's kind of a win-win situation, you get to know about things, I get some shameless promotion.
At http://www.functionn.in, we do not post things which have been posted all over the web. We post things which are AWESOME and FRESH. We do this daily. Check it out once, I'm sure you'll find it super useful :)
But if people are not fine with it, I'll stop. Just drop comment here people. I'll take it as a no-go :)

boxbox is a framework for making games with the box2d physics engine. Technically, it’s not the same C++ box2D library that’s being used, but rather box2dweb, which is a JavaScript port of box2dflash, which itself is a port of box2D for C++.
While the original box2D C++ physics engine has a difficult API to learn if you’re not proficient with C++, boxbox provides a simple API in JavaScript for you to make full use of the physics engine. There are difference between box2D and boxbox.
While in box2D we work with fixtures, bodies and shapes, in boxbox, we work solely with entities. We can also attach event to those entities rather than the whole world, use common configurations among those entities and use built-in canvas rendering with image support.

Substrata is lightweight, with the CSS file’s size at around 8KB minified. It also comes with several baked-in features like Google Web Fonts Code, Analytics code, Modernizr.js, HTML5 Boilerplate’s .htaccess file and more.

Bootstrap Date/ Time Picker is as its name says a date/time picker for Twitter Bootstrap. Unlike other pickers, this one combines both a date and a time picker in a simple pop-up menu.
This allows you to choose both a date and a time, down to the second. The interface of the date-time picker is sleek and allows you to change the picking mode from date to time with a single click. Of course, you can style the picker if you wish to.
