It's death 1 month ago

Raising a child is noteworthy. Same for the millions of people who do it now, and the millions of people who did it before them. Just because millions of people do it doesn't diminish the significance of it. Framing it as such, is like saying there's no point running a race if you don't come first. A personal victory is still a victory. If it matters to you, then that's all that matters. All of those things like authoring papers, winning great prizes, setting records, will all be eventually be lost to time.

.;''-. The lessons I was taught about the things of my thoughts
.' | `._ is that if I write until I quit then my thinking becomes quiet.
     /` ; `'. I write.
  ,'\| `| | I write to think.
  | -'_ \ `'.__,J I write quite a lot.
 | `"-.___ ,' I write almost as much as I've thought.
 '-, / I write until I quit.
} __.--'L I write to get the thing out of my head.
; _,- _.-"`\ ___ Which let's my thinking go on to my next thought when I step out of bed.

       | '- /;;;;;, `t'` \ I don't think I could think without writing my thoughts down.
`'-'`_.|,';;;, '._/| Which gives me a new thought:
        _.-' \ |;;;;; `-._/ Do I think to write?
             / `;\ |;;;, `" Or do I write to think?
           .' `'`\;;, /
          ' ;;;'|
              .--. ;.:`\ _.--,
             | `'./;' _ '_.' |
              \_ ` `) /

Shamelessly stolen from justinlloyd on a previous post about writing to think.

One use case is the web view allows you to check emails of a workspace that requires a Google Device policy to be installed to use the native apps. Of course, the simple solution is to be given a workplace phone or don't check emails when away from a computer.

That's not the impression I have from the article. The overwhelming % of execs are pushing for positive change. At the end of the day, it's the "put your own mask on first" principle. Execs are humans just like everyone else, with their own job pressures and stresses, not robots that can automatically compartmentalise and supress their own feelings and emotions.

Not from what I can see. Seems only features that are reliant on there being a "page":

Some features are not available on pageless docs: columns, page numbers, headers and footers, page breaks, etc

The Airpod Pros and Airpod Max Pros definitely changed my sentitment towards active noise cancellation. Transparency is great when I want more awareness of my surroundings without having to take out my earphones. The Maxs also don't seem to have any of ear pressure that had led me to sell my Bose QC35s a couple of weeks after buying them.

My Peloton is one of the best fitness purchases I've made in years. And thats after a couple of years on a Wahoo Kickr Snap and a year on a Wahoo Kickr Core, mostly using Zwift with a bit of TrainerRoad mixed in. The classes on Peloton are just so much fun, motivating and uplifting.

Genuinely curious as to what would have to be different for it _not_ to be considered a fad? Seeing as they have been going for 8 years and, and, after having a quick look, have been doubling revenue for a number of years previous to Covid19.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, with this advice you run the risk of shutting down some converstaions which may be important to one person, but not particularly to the other.

We should probably distinguish conversations that are about just something in general, and examples in the post, which are about potentially crucial/difficult challenges a person is having.

I may not be particularly interested in a problematic situation that someone may be having at work, but I know that by listening and showing genuine curiosity, I may be able to help them in their own understandin and reaching a potential positive outcome.

I can only speak for myself, but the meetings that previously seemed mysterious when I was an IC, are those around organisational objectives, resourcing, budgets, supplier management, alignment with other departments (Product, DCO, Infosec, Legal), catchups with my direct reports, technology department objectives etc.
