it's not a you problem. while it's not uncommon to hear or see, 99% of people do not do Whitewater kayaking as a hobby.

You said "I thought everyone was just playing up to the same fun thought-experiment" which implies you did that thinking at the time. I'm not questioning whether you knew how to breathe or understood the mechanics of it. I can only go by the information you provided.

Your reply even shows you don't understand the magic of Christmas that some children felt.

I feel grateful to my parents that they managed to feed imagination without deceit

You're framing this deceit as a bad thing. What do you think about parents pretending a child's spoon is an airplane?

Just watched it on youtube. He doesn't use the fingerholes but I wouldn't expect all pros use them. The second hand just remains on the ball longer before the throw. My verdict: not that different

Or worse..

the response is: list out your priorities and the impact of not doing them long with a recommendation of moving forward

... isn't that YOUR job? This especially sucks when it happens regularly and it means you're not spending any time on the prioritized work, just working on setting priorities.

It's basically a different flavor of modern web app development. It's key difference is that it doesn't download a full JS library to the client. The saves some ms/s on initial load. For most applications, that is not really an issue but, of course, there are some scenarios that it suits.

What do you think that dirt is going to do to you? What about if you have a child who rolls around in the grass and then comes in? Or a baby pram who's wheels go everywhere, or a wheelchair user enters your house, or you have a cat or a dog?

While I do take my shoes off in my hall and wear socks in doors all the time, I think the no shoes thing has entered meme territory.

recruitment, management, strategy, etc

This is all objectively easier and less skillful than your co-workers work. For example, if you recruit wrong.. the company will just fire all those people (as demonstrated by X number of companies in recent months). There will likely be no short term or long term repercussion for you unless you're one of the people fired.

For strategy, if you strategize wrong it is probably contained within a product or section of the company. I doubt you could tank the whole big tech company you work for. You'll just move on to a different project.

Sounds like you're making big money to show up to meetings.
