Voting with your wallet doesn't exist. Try to boycott Amazon by blocking the AWS IP ranges and see how unusable the internet becomes for everyday tasks. Corporations continue to push the personal responsibility narrative so they can externalize costs of unethical business practices.

They also sell a license with the new hardware. The bulk majority of the public never buy hardware without an OS. So yes, they are making more money with each new hardware sale. Plus the increase of forced advertising means they make more per user, effectively double dipping.

Why do you feel the need to defend a convicted monopolist for engaging in user hostile behavior?

Edit: I mistook the bsky.sh domain, my bad. Can't get strike through to work for the life of me. I give up.

~~Bluesky blocked in Mississippi, try to work around it, only for the resource that tells you how to do this to be hosted on Bluesky, which is blocked. That's... suboptimal~~.

I can't help but feel like Bluesky is just three corporations in a trenchcoat pretending to be an open federated ecosystem.

One could argue the polish of their UI/UX is worth it, but not to me. I moved to Porkbun and found the difference a bit frustrating when trying to migrate from Gandi, but that was one time pain.

For either, if the papers don't stand up to peer review and meta-analysis then yes, we should ignore them. Don't often see papers from think tanks engaging in actual science though....

Redistribute the tax back to the people. That way you're eliminating the price externality but offsetting the cost to individuals. The fossil fuel industry can't continue to plug their ears and ignore the costs associated with putting more and more carbon in the atmosphere. We need to hold them to account.
