Particularly for finer gauge knits, I believe warp knitting is often used, where many strands are knit at once, crossing back and forth instead of a single strand going round and round (weft knitting) so there shouldn't be any issues with stretching or rotating. There's no reason a T-shirt can't be automated like anything else as far as I know, but I'm not in the industry at all.
I view it much like 3D printing, it's a tool that is well suited for some materials and tasks, but quite poor for others. Working around its constraints is part of the fun!

An automated, full garment knitting machine that can fit on a desk.
There are only a few knitting machines that can automatically do everything required to knit a complete garment, and they are large, heavy and extremely expensive. I'm aiming to trade off speed against size and cost to create something akin to a 3D printer for knitwear.
I've been testing out various ideas for six months now, and I think I have a workable concept, but there's still a lot of work to do!

Having read the transcript, I have to disagree with your conclusion. The CEO did answer that the terms of service were purposely broad, but binding, what he refused to answer was whether a hypothetical the author came up with was or wasn't against the terms of service. The author clearly set up the question as a 'right' or 'left' political question, and expressed disbelief that the CEO refused to confirm that anyone the author didn't agree with would be censored.
The EUC works by tilting you forward to speed up, and tilting you backward to slowdown.
I think this is the root of your misunderstanding. To speed up and slow down, you tilt yourself forward and backwards. This is actually a strength of the EUC's physics, as it means you're always perfectly balanced for any acceleration or braking, unlike a scooter or bike that can 'throw you over the handlebars'.
I highly recommend trying one, it's my regular commuter and extremely fun.

Aussie in Lahti here, on my third winter, and also finally got a pair of icebugs. They make a big difference! I also highly recommend a pair of Halti (or whatever brand) soft-shell pants. With thermals underneath, I've been perfectly happy outside at -20.
If it's a regular piezo buzzer, just stick a small rare earth magnet to it. Instant silence, and doesn't damage anything!
That site is utterly broken on Firefox mobile. I had to select all and copy the text to a note taking app to make it readable.
Another issue that no one has touched on yet is that big diesel engines don't like being stopped and started. The maintenance costs of stopping the engine each time it docks are likely worth more than the fuel it burns doing so.
It seems that the externalities of this decision need to be accounted for in law.
