Not really. Outside of Walmart and maybe a smaller store ran by an older mom and pop shop, you can use NFC payments practically anywhere even at a drive thru. Only reason I still have my wallet is mainly for drivers license, but even that’s on the horizon.

It’s not a triple boot, I’ve had this happen on multiple times on a Windows/Ubuntu and Windows/Arch systems. Happened first on arch and just blamed it on Arch issues and switched to Ubuntu and it happened again and this is across different HW generations. automatic updates enables enabled on all configs and Linux will just have some weird issue that crops up that renders the OS not usable. I know what I’m doing and I’ve been running systems with Linux for over 20yrs. Linux has its issue and so does windows. Funny enough the majority of issues(at least in recent memory) have been on desktop systems. My first homelab server ran on my old dell laptop without any major issues for 5 years before migrating to a desktop.

It’s been a reoccurring issue for the past four years and I make sure that both my Linux and windows storage/boot drives are on completely separate drives. I also have a current issue on my Ubuntu server that’s plugged into a KVM where if I don’t have the sever as the active input, if switch back I won’t get a display unless I reboot the server. Honestly I mostly use it headless anyways by removing in via ssh, but it’s nuances like that’ll where I treat Windows the same way as Linux.

I keep coming back to see if Linux is usable for daily driving. I still dual boot but for the past 5 years if I don’t update my Linux partition for a few weeks due to going on holiday or visiting in-laws then I always run into boot issues. Mostly it’s been the OS booting to a black screen. At least windows doesn’t give me login issues and just works with any peice of hardware I want. It saying it’s perfect but even as a daily driver of windows canary, my windows system is much more stable than my Ubuntu/Arch System.

It hasn’t regressed really, it’s just no longer free. Microsoft quick assist exist and allows you to connect to any pc with the users client code.

Didn’t MSFT recently uncouple teams license from O365? I think you now need a separate license to use business teams, but also why use anything else.

This part doesn’t seem to be common knowledge. I don’t own a Tesla but I have been a few. From my understanding the feature as always said it was in beta and that it still required that you have your hands on the wheel.

I like the idea of FSD, but I think we should have a serious talk about how the safety implications of making this more broadly available and also compatibility with making a mesh network so FSD vehicles can communicate. I’m not well versed in the tech but I feel like it would be safer if you have like say have more cars on the road that can communicate and making decisions together than separate cars existing in a vacuum having to make a decision.

I’m unfortunately not able to view on desktop since I’m traveling but I’ll have to take a look upon my return tomorrow. Seems fishy the fact it was flagged with lockdown is suspicious.

Is t one of the main problems with used EVs the battery cap? Unless battery tech gets better can it be assumed that most EVs on the used market would also require a battery replacement so they have the original range?

If you have a driveway, I don’t see why you don’t just add the little extra to add a charger at home. That’s actually my plan when I eventually get a UV. Just get a face charge and someone to wire it. Where I’m located at the current rate it should be around $1600 for the charger and the install.

I mean between bitlocker and T2 I’d rather have T2. At least with bitlocker the key is in my Microsoft account so if something happened to my pc and the drive was still intact I can easily access the data again. On a T2 secured Mac, if something happened then I’m screwed.

I mean if you’re that worried about ms having your keys, you can always encrypt with a local account and save the key somewhere else. But also if you’re that worried about v someone having access to your data, why are you using a non open source OS anyways?

Just checked my states laws. Underglow lights aren’t illegal, and also I can get them installed directly from the manufacturer.

Massive respect to that HA support. I’ve started running HA and it amazes me what is available on some cloud products once you remove the proprietary cloud from them. I used to be a Google home or bust, slowly I’ve been going the cloud agnostic route. Any Android device should work with Google home (for the wife) and both HomeKit + Home Assistant. I say HomeKit and Home Assistant because I really like Apple ease of use and the ability for home assistant to pipe other compatible sensors directly into HomeKit for example, ecobees sensors provide more sensor data via home assistant than they do in their regular app and in HomeKit. Via Home Assistant I can add this extra sensor data directly into HomeKit.

That seems like a sure fire way to hamstring your country. Does that also include firmware for devices? Will this government have a large dev team to make software that its populace can use? Would you install trackers and block the internet in general so citizens can’t get software that’s open source. Would you demand visitors to surrender their devices while visiting so the authorities can check for non-free software installed?

Ehh some restaurants still know you on a first name basis even with DoorDash. I used to order from this one Philippine spot like twice a week and after a month a decided to go there in person to sit down and when they asked for my name they immediately asked if I wanted my usual DoorDash order

It’s always dependent on wear you lived. I’ve always lived in my city of at least 1mil+ and growing up before DoorDash we could never get delivery because of zip code. Now with DoorDash it doesn’t matter. Delivery has always existed but that was mostly dependent on if the restaurant wanted to come to your area.

What district and how enforced is it? My mother is a teacher in CMS and while it’s a policy there it’s hardly ever enforced….mianly due to parents. When I grew up in NC (private school) you weren’t allowed to have phones in the class either and if caught you either had to give to the teacher or be sent to the principals office if you refused to comply. If you still didn’t comply you got suspended. Most would just give to the teacher if you got caught.

Meanwhile I would bring my PSP to school and just leave it in my locker as it was the perfect MP3 device to walk home from school with, or use it for football/track game days.

I mean I’ve definitely heard of school testing centers at least requiring graphing calcs to have their memory wiped to stop cheating. But idk if they did it themselves or forced to students to do it before entering.

Crazy because I started playing games on the calc and then at something in HS I got a new Ti-84 and student read the full manual and realized you could actually code programs in that thing.

I mean sure, but then my TV wouldn’t have VRR that was enabled with a software update. Plus a lot of TVs will just connect to an open WiFi network anyways.

I have an A80J and it’s possibly the best panel I’ve owned/seen in any house that didn’t have something similar. My dad who is a big movie buff with an Atmos HiFi actually got one like a month later after being a big LG fan.

Bit the don’t tax almost three years ago on an A80J. Honestly the best panel I’ve had. Probably going to buy another Sony panel to replace a circa 2012 4K Samsung.

The key is block all network access. A lot of IoT devices have hard coded DNS so even running a pihole will sometimes not work.

Yea 120 v 144 isn’t too big of a difference for me. Actually until I got a new GPU that could actually output 120fps at 1440p, I left my monitor on 120hz. When AMDs AFMF drivers came out I actually went ahead and bumped the refresh to 144hz as I was definitely starting to see screen tearing but it was still pretty fluid. I’d be curious on whether the next jump for meto will be 4k 144hz or 1440p 240hz

I’ve never had a display refresh rate higher than 144, but maybe because I play games but I can definitely tell the difference between 30/60 and even 60/120. After 120 the difference between 120/144 starts to diminish but there’s still a slight difference though it’s more pronounced in very fast moving objects like moving a mouse.

That actuality sounds pretty standard. That would be from 5pm-10pm. Evening news, game shows, then like two 1 hour long shows and it’s already been five hours.

That also makes me wonder how much TVs are being subsidized with ads and sponsored content. Those businesses displays cost significantly more than a regular consumer TV.
