Tax the Childless 12 years ago

I do pay more taxes than those with children. I take the extra cash amassed that I'm not spending on a family and I invest it or I spend it. Both add tax revenue. Across my investment properties I pay 35K in property taxes annually, then I pay income tax on income generated from rents across multiple units. I'll also pay sales taxes on those buildings when I sell them. Lastly, because I do not have any dependents, my tax bracket is set squarely in "are you mad?!?" range. I pay a lot of taxes.

I don't really consider this a DMV loophole. It's just constantly driving a new car. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to "uncover" this loophole, it just takes a wealthy individual to be able to afford the the lease premium to do this if they are motivated enough.

Moving On... 15 years ago

I can appreciate the effort and the sentiment of this post, but it definitely reveals a "shoot from the hip" mentality at the company.

There is a way to get money from the government funds now for your startup. One of the companies I work with went after grants (and were awarded them) to help develop our technology.

You have to attempt to solve a problem that those offering grants care about, but I think this is an often overlooked opportunity for startups.

I won't be holding my breathe for a fund here in LA.

Yep, exactly.

I used Wordpress, and I altered a classifieds plugin to make this work. Not exactly earth shattering, but for someone who has never done this before, I feel good about it.

This prob took me a couple weeks in nights and weekend time. I probably spent as much time researching, reading, and learning (whether relevant to the site or not) as building it.

We work so hard to bootstrap our ideas and start ups either as our main gig or on the side, we've got to have a bit of a sense of humor about it, no?

How is this for a slogan: "MasterIncubator, a better way to spend your nights and weekends."

I should note that this isn't a profit venture, but a site to help the right people connect with each other to create what they otherwise may not have been able to alone.
