Hi everyone, I’ve been working on an iOS app for Pente and wanted to share it here.

For anyone new to it, Pente is an abstract strategy game where you win by getting five stones in a row or by capturing five pairs of your opponent’s stones.

The app is called Pente Go. You can play:

  * Online against friends or other players
  * Local pass-and-play
  * Single-player against AI
  * Classic or tournament opening rules
  * Leaderboard and basic stats

I do this on my website with paywalled information. It respects upper/lowercasing and spacing but randomises each character. Anyone can disable the CSS blur but the data is still obfuscated.

I created this browser extension to solve a personal annoyance. It automatically removes obnoxious prompts on websites that interrupt your reading, like prompts to sign up or enter your email address, overlays with discount offers, pointless GDPR and cookie consent banners, etc.

It's in early development and doesn't work on most websites, yet. The aim is to build up a comprehensive set of rules over time to block modals anywhere. Creating your definitions is easy and can be done from within the extension. The project is open-source and I'm looking for contributors!

Years ago I ran into this issue with MySQL, storing four billion rows with a unique ID.

1.5K installs so far, versus 1.5M on Chrome and 90K on Firefox. Hard to say what the percentage will be.

We finally ported Wappalyzer across to Safari. The process was fairly straight-forward but Safari doesn't implement every API that Chrome, Firefox and even Edge support, so we had to do a bunch of work to get a single version of the extension to work consistently in all four browsers. I'm glad it's finally here though.

It's challenging to find a balance between security and not hindering legitimate customers. Telling them the order went through when they mistyped their card number isn't great. I don't expose the reason the payment was rejected however.

Stripe does warn me about the charge-backs.

I send a verification link to new email addresses before accepting payments. They do click them.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do this manually and never won a dispute. I suspect the fraud is being committed by a single person or group of people for the purpose of testing stolen credit cards. In some cases victims contact me after seeing my business name on their statement. I also report suspicious transactions myself.

This is off-topic but is anyone else dealing with an insurmountable number of charge-backs selling digital goods using Stripe? I'm using Radar, Sift Science, email verification, CAPTCHA, post code checks, country and domain restrictions, rate limiting and every other trick in the book and yet reportedly a third of my payments is fraudulent.

The way credit card payments work seems backwards and hopelessly broken. I reached out to Stripe several times but keep getting the same templated response. What gives?

Not quite! The browser extensions are stand-alone tools that analyse web pages right in your browser. Wappalyzer also has PHP, Python and Ruby drivers that allow you to run it server-side.

You may be able to use it for your project. You are also very welcome to contribute.

Yep, I had disk issues on a new box too. Hetzner is great though. Also don't be too worried about high ping times, I recently moved http://readable.cc away from Linode and the site is much, much faster (and I'm in Australia, the other end of the planet.)
