Number of active users on ChatGPT is at an all-time high. Number of tokens consumed on OpenRouter is at an all-time high. I'm not seeing the plateau.

There's a lot of 'But what about' in the comments. I think it's a delightful setup. I love simplicity and tools that do one thing well.

I believe it's dishonest to give an unreviewed unedited AI answer as your own response without disclosing it's an AI answer.

AI is often right enough for most people's cases, but one in ten times it's completely off the mark.

I hope as time goes on, people who are being empty shells for AI get weeded out of the workforce.

The technological world is rapidly changing and Google is changing with it. They are in a very strong position, owning the full stack in an industry that is very early and rapidly growing. They won't win all their bets but they have enough coverage for it not to matter.

I disagree with the Apple comparison. Apple haven't done anything successfully innovative for what seems like decades. I do admire their stance on AI though. Not going all in makes them unique.

Reflecting on the comments, I did this to myself. I should have titled this "I used AI to make me dumb".

I have a method of using voice transcription to brain dump my thoughts and ask AI to turn it into something organised and sensible.

When I wrote this I overlooked the fact that I was in management for years before, which is possibly the actual real reason I forgot how to code. I've probably also been avoiding coding by hand. That was a choice. When I went back into IC, I probably didn't feel good enough for the seniority level that I was at and rather than working to improve myself, I used AI.

I think you're right and that's probably my mistake. I should be using it as a companion rather than an independent agent. I think enhanced auto complete or function level work is probably appropriate. However what I've been doing is having it build a full application from scratch, to the point where it's impossible to review.

The lack of refactoring when using AI tools is definitely a concern. I've only ever seen lines of code go up.

Newsblur has been stable and consistent since the Google Reader shutdown. Has plenty of goodies. Samuel Clay, the creator, is responsive to feedback.

I understand the sentiment, and it's a nice looking bit of desk clutter, but if you're looking for a organising tool, just buy a cheap notebook for pete's sake. Keeping a notebook on your desk is invaluable if well used.

Fantasic idea and implementation. My timeline on here compared to twitter.com looks more sane and inteligent without those recommendations of 'X liked this tweet', and all the news topics. I assume that's because it's getting the raw feed.

I also love low-fi websites like this. I think websites shouldn't be a large drain on resources, and should embrace standard HTML as much as possible.

This has the opportunity to curve timewasting scrolling by making it more a periodical read. As such, I'd like the return of the timestamps and to implement hourly pagination, so that there's an 'end' point and a easy bookmark to start where you left off.

The house number locations in the UK irks me. I submitted corrections for my neighbourhood for all house numbers. A year later, they all get moved back to roughly where they were.

It took me a while to figure out it's detecting the house numbers from Street View pictures and overriding my corrections.

I'm in the same position. 12 years software dev. 5 years CTO. Company grew double each year. I had teams under me.

I found that I had lost my developer experience over the years and I didn't feel like a good CTO. I figured I was burnt out and started to not care about the work but couldn't bring myself to give myself a rest or sort it out. I quit last week.

'sell all your data to third parties' is an interesting claim for Edison as their marketing is very privacy conscious. Do you have sources for it?

Anyone with a Hikvision should air-gap it from their network. They don't pass any kind of vendor scrutiny.

I like the idea. Some thoughts;

I think you'll need a threshold of when a HN post is worthy of a summary (e.g. number of points), and a way of tracking work like a backlog of posts that are awaiting a summary to ensure you don't have duplicated work and to keep track of work volume.

Once a summary is posted, any comment afterwards won't be included in the summary. You'll need to decide if a summary of comments is written a longer time after the the summary of the post is written to get a good sample of the comments.

A summary will need to be completed soon before the peak of popularity to ensure maximum exposure and effect.

Am I right in thinking that the long term business plan for these is to get bought up and turned into one large provider network such as Openreach?
