Why "locked into"? When choosing JavaScript, you're locked into JavaScript (and Ecma International), when choosing Kotlin, you're locked into Kotlin (and Jetbrains). You're always "locked into" the language and its ecosystem, no matter what you choose. I don't find that to be a real argument.

The system is just so nice. Memory footprint is very low, there are like a hand full of processes running, almost no magical stuff happening. Additionally to the handbook, the man pages are also way more informative than the Linux pendants.

I can only second this. Coming from a BMW with a physical controller, I now constantly have to try to keep my fingers steady enough to target the right button on the screen, which is hard when the rest of the car moves and shakes. Volvo kind of solved this shaking-problem by placing the gear shift in a way so that you can rest you wrist on it while touching the screen.

Seems like unfortunately only a few automakers understand this, like Acura [1] or BMW [2] and resist this trend.

Concerning the Virtual Machine pricings on the discussed platforms, I'd like to mention that – on very small machines – running Windows Server is significantly more expensive on Google Loud than on AWS or Azure, because Google charges you the license fee directly whereas Azure or AWS seem to have a mixed calculation.

Having the smallest Windows VM on AWS is like 6-7$/month, whereas on GCE you're at at least 14.60$ higher due to the license.
