You remove a bit of complexity. Sure Postgres is not hard to set up sn to connect to, but Sqlite is just opening a file. It being a file makes it also very easy to test or debug you application.

I write most of my stuff in vim so use a neither a spellchecker or grammar-checker. I have found that since I started doing that my spelling has greatly improved. My grammar can be janky sometimes, but I have doubt programs will help with that. If I want to be sure of my spelling I might find some textbox on some website and paste the text there.

There exist lists of email providers. Those you can whitelist, ie. they can't get on the blacklist. Even then they would only be blocked temporarily. There also exists postmaster@domain.com which should not filter at all. I am aware that you are able to abuse said system but if you monitor logs those issues would only be temporary.

One trick is having an tarpit email adress on your website. It is hidden using CSS so no real visitor sees it but it is visible in source. If your mail server recieves mail for that adress you can just block that IP for 24h.

When gcc was built most compilers were proprietary. Stallman wanted a free compiler and to keep it free. The GPL license is more restrictive, but it's philosophy is clear. At the end of the day the code's writer can choose if and how people are allowed to use it. You don't have to use it, you can use something else or build you own. And maybe, just maybe Linux is thriving while Windows is dying because in the Linux ecosystem everybody works together and shares, while in Windows everybody helps together paying for Satya Nadellas next yacht.

I don't believe they can keep this up forever. Take Google which is dependent on Google Search. That their search is becoming actively worse is common knowledge, reason being more searches equates to more ads shown. If a company which respects you as a user comes around people will jump the boat. We can see this with YouTube. YouTube shows so many ads, that people have been using TikTok instead. They say TikTok is also bad for them, but they rather use it than watch an ad every 30s.

Point being entshittification comes at a cost, and companies partaking in shitty activities can only keep this up for so long.

Svelte is not like other frontend frameworks. It compiles down to JS. It is not like you have to follow the warnings, the compiler then just can't ensure that it will work properly. I am sure LSP settings can also tune which warnings you see and there is also the `svelte-ignore`.

Choose not to pursue CS because of that. I like coding a lot and can spend lots of brainpower and time coding things I am interested in. Once you start working as a programmer, coding becomes something else. Therefore I rather take a different career path and can keep enjoying my little projects.

Ed Zitron over on wheresyoured.at has done some great work showing how all of these companies are just burning through money.

No reasonable businesses would spend such money if they have none. They should work on becoming profitable. OpenAI can't really be called a startup anymore and they should have for a long time have had a path to profitability. Right now it feels like they are all just running around aimlessly, like chicken without a head, trying to make up the promises they made 2 years ago. All the while they are burning through money, like it is growing on trees, until they have none left.

This is also not limited to OpenAI. Just watch what is happening at Facebook and their hiring bonuses. Feels like a bubble ready to burst.
