@karpathy, I could not get to run. It exited in the reading of the tokenizer.bin. Turns out on Windows with Visual Studio, fopen needs to be issued in binary mode, otherwise the reading eventually "failed".

What is required to actually feed it text and then retrieve the results? So instead of having it produce the story of Lily, write something different?

They are permeated with little holes that allows light and sound in if they have not fully descended. If they have then the little holes are folded shut.

This too is a bit generalised, as ours do fully close. In fact they actually snap into place to activate a break in barrier. This makes it harder to break in, as they can not be easily pushed up or removed.

The annoying part with Steam is, almost every time I start it, it is downloading a few hundred MB large update.

This makes absolutely no sense to me. * first of all they could reduce the patch size * second, what need is there to update a launcher this often, why not pull the required info from some online database

This thing is wasting internet traffic without any apparent good reason.

You have to put this into perspective. I am working on an MMO gane and not only can good code half the server amount but just as well the internet traffic, which in turn reduces mobil traffic consumption on the mobile device. Just like the optimized client (game) saves power on the mobile device. And if you scale this to thousands of servers and millions of players, I am sure it time invested is well worth it.

In here and in the article it sound as if QUIC or HTTP3 use or build a new Internet Protocol, while it was my understanding it _simply_ uses UDP to create a better version of TCP.

Of course an all new IP would be great, but the issue is it would take very long for all the soft and hardware to support it and UDP is simply there.

I would prefer for a new HTTP to go an all new way, leaving behind UDP and TCP and build something new. Then support fallback over HTTP1/2 until everything else caught up.

I see it the same way, even as developer. Every store is another task which takes resources to handle. Stores change and hence it never stops. Further, Icwsnt customers to know tuey can trust the ecosystem to some degree.

As a fahter, the Apple App Store too is the only place I give my children access too. They started with Android phones but after I noticed the apps which are present in the Google Play Store we went on to switch to iOS. Passing on our used devices to our kids.

Google could have done amazing things, abd so could Microsoft. But both took a different parh. I am not a Apple fanboy, I fact I am very critical about them. Yet its simply the best ecosystem for normal consumers.

„Platforms will have to provide 30 days notice to publishers before removing content from stores“

This happend to me a few times with one particular app on Google Play Store and a company I worked for.

In all cases the app was removed from the store without any prior notice and very limited information on why it was removed in the first place. To make it worse, it took days to get a reply back which felt to be build out of predefined text blocks and did not address the questions nor solution.

Apple on the other hand always provided great feedback and offered solutions and never simply took an app from the store.

Hence I welcome this change greatly. Also noteworthy, the apps in question were absolutely clean and were to please the users. No spam, spy, advertisements boosters.

Lets just hope this 30 day rule does not apply to the numerous bad apps, those should be removed more quickly and in fact not even approved in the first place.

Let’s not forget a benchmark is not a typical application. Just because it does improve without using dynamic linking does not conclude it would so in every application. But, I definitely would not dynamically link a custom allocator. For me it would be the improved memory usage and performance, which I do not want to risk loosing.

Google too shut down AdSense just a few weeks ago for a project I work on/for. We only use AdMob to serve ads as alternative monetization. No warning, no reason given, no way to contact anymore. This is definitely not the right way to go about this.

This is why my new server system sends you a password for every login you want to do to your email. Of course you do stay logged on, so it is not needed very often.

Dear Apple 9 years ago

Since their tools and software is not improving and each version brings new bugs to enjoy, I am happy to see Microsoft support compilation of other platforms with Visual Studio. The best would be Apple stops their whole desktop lineup and focus on mobile Devices, making everything easily accessible from other platforms. Maybe the way the Macs are updated is a sign in this direction.

But he starts with saying the file can be processed offline. And I wonder, if one gets the "password" file to be processed offline, why can't he simply get the data too?

Maybe there is a difference between what is supposed to be protected. The login to some server based server? Or something I use locally like my tax files.

I read the original study and yes, they did compare it to lifelong non-smokers. However, as far as I saw they only compared people with cancer. And the numbers were usually increased for smokers and the smokers usually ended up with more of a certain kind of cancer.
