Seems like there is some way. There's a startup[1] that I've been seeing around on twitter[2] which makes it easy to create in-game assets that are style-consistent. Haven't tried it yet but it looks promising!

Great feedback, we've chatted a bit about this internally already. It's something we'll likely add. In general we're looking for ways to make it easier to see pinouts/voltages/current/etc.

Yeah on my machine it's a lot slower using Firefox than chrome. We can investigate and see why it's happening.
Also I do agree that 2D interface is probably important to add at some point too!
I think right now the skeuomorphism is nice for folks wanting to get their hands dirty with circuit projects but don't have all the materials/supplies available for whatever reason (cost/space/etc)

Hey! I work on Diode w/ Austin (OP). Yeah we use a wasm-compiled version of ngSpice for the circuit simulation.

We're a tiny startup (2 people), right now we've done the 80/20 approach for mobile to make it semi-useable. The main platform for using Diode is desktop for now.
Definitely think supporting mobile fully in the future makes a ton of sense though. Thanks for the feedback!

hey y'all, I'm Kenneth, founder of Diode. Cool to see this pop up here! We have lots planned for Diode and we'd love to hear what folks think about the product so far / what they could see it being used for in the future.
We started building Diode seriously at the beginning of September after I put a weekend project teaser out on twitter and got a decent amount of attention[1].
We want to build tools that make it 10x easier for anyone to get started hacking and building hardware. We're planning on adding microcontroller / single-board computer simulation pretty soon, which should make it a bit more interesting to play with!
Can't wait to hear what y'all have to say!

Great read Chris! I was in the S21 batch and definitely relate to a lot of the things you posted. Especially re: batchmate quality.
One big thing that YC did for me is it was an ambition multiplier. Pre-YC I thought it'd be cool to make software that could just pay my bills. A year post-batch and I find my default state is much more ambitious than before.
It's a crazy feeling seeing so many people start from 0 and the progress they can make in just 3 months. YC helped me and my company tremendously.
I followed people building things on twitter and started interacting with their posts, I posted a lot about programming stuff and just did the whole build in public thing.
I think building in public was great for motivating more progress
A handful:
1. Stumbling upon a r/diy post on reddit of some dude building a kegerator with a raspberry pi. I thought it was cool, impulse bought a raspberry pi, and fell in love with programming. I was working at a gas station as a maintenance tech before. Ended up switching careers into software engineering and greatly increasing my life satisfaction, income, etc
2. Joining twitter. I joined in late 2020, and started sharing about side projects I was building. This led to earning my first $ online, launching a startup, raising money from investors, and getting into Y Combinator. Before sharing online what I was building I was making virtually 0 traction on various different SaaS projects i was building. It really changed my life and career in a tremendous way
Congrats on launching :) I built a pretty similar tool last year [1]. This looks like it has some nice improvements over the stuff I did with mine.
Wish I had the time to improve on the course I launched but I ended up starting a company shortly after launching my course and getting into YC.

for those not in the know, i think this is one of the marketing experiments that the tuple crew is doing w/ a Stripe capital loan. Interesting idea, and will be cool to see how it plays out w/ conversions
thirdweb is a pretty easy way to get started if you’re an experienced web developer. we use them internally at our web3 dev education startup for creating and sending nfts to folks who complete our tutorials.
we have a tutorial with them going on where we show you how to build a full stack web3 app with their sdks/platform. we’re rewarding folks who complete the tutorial with a bit of $MATIC and a cool nft[1]

We’re making the announcement next week, but yes we’re pivoting away from the course marketplace but will still be doing something in dev education :)
We’ll send all our users an email early next week (though we’ve emailed a subset of users already. Namely those who have purchased a course that is already being migrated off the platform).

I launched it 10 months ago on [2]HN and that launch ended up leading me down the path to start a company and get accepted into YC.
It's cool to see other people's take on a problem but this feels eerily similar to my tool, down to some of the copy, layout, and pricing.

Yeah today it's Pyodide inside React. The long term vision is to have an easy way for folks to embed executable code examples in the browser of many types of languages/frameworks and to make it easy.
TF would be cool but as someone else said, TFJS is a more approachable path for adding it :)
Hey James! It was the same as any other YC application :) the process is the same for everyone.
- open application that anyone can submit - get an interview or don't get one - if you get the interview, you get 10 min to chat
They did ask me why I didn't have a cofounder and I told them the reason. The reason being that I wasn't close enough with anyone that was passionate about the same idea and was available to do a startup.
