They are. Most locksmiths hate graphite. The two lubes most used and recommended by locksmiths are Houdini and Tri-Flow. The latter is available in some hardware stores (it’s in the lube section of my local ACE Hardware), and while you can special order Houdini online, you can also buy it locally under its alternate name Super Slick Slick Stuff. I’ve seen it in my local Lowes, not sure if Home Depot also has it now.

Of the "lock box" type key holders, it seems like the Kidde mini-safe box is pretty decent (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLg86_C7rrs) - though it's not a doorknob hanger so to install it properly you'd want to screw it into something sturdy.

You don't necessarily have to replace the whole door frame, you can buy an aftermarket frame reinforcer like Door Armor to distribute the force of a kicking attack (which is a lot more common than lock picking) across the frame. You can also make sure to get thick strike places and long (3") screws to make sure the door latch and deadbolt are sliding into things that are actually screwed to the house framing rather than held in by tiny screws that will just rip out with a good kick.

BUT, I'm glad I did learn it, as just an alternate way of writing, and if I ever have a child/ren will probably try to teach them if it's not being taught in their school (which it doesn't sound like is common these days).

When you essentially have a monopoly position, and most of your product updates are to improve your own revenue and not to make the customer experience better because you simply don’t have to do that anymore, eventually people will try to revolt and create alternatives. Because of the network effect lock-in, this kind of creativity (patching the existing monopolist’s app rather than creating a whole new service) is one of the more accessible methods of trying to improve the product. I’m not making a judgment on whether or not it is right, but from a purely providing-the-best-product-to-the-user perspective, I am happy to see alternatives flourish.

It sounds like a classic example of how accrual bookkeeping can be misleading due to timing issues (the sale has already been booked even though the cash hasn’t been collected). I know it has other advantages vs. cash bookkeeping, but cash is so much easier to understand that I have always chosen it whenever possible (i.e., for a service business).

Part of the challenge is that virtually anyone can call themselves a coach. I can’t tell you how many “life coach” business cards there are on the boards in nice coffee shops and Whole Foods around me. How do you know that the coach is actually an expert in the subject AND a good teacher/coach to boot? If they’re so good, why are they coaching instead of doing and succeeding at it themselves? Obviously there are folks that were successful and are now retired and seemingly just want to pass their experience on, but I think those require some work to find. I do think there’s virtue in finding a mentor or coach but it can be challenging to do that. In the meantime finding a group of peers at the same level who are equally ambitious and willing to help each other - a mastermind group - can be a great substitute or stopgap until you can find such a coach or mentor.

I’m not crazy about this development but if they were going to add any kind of advertising this is just about the least intrusive way to do it. And, importantly, it’s only based on the search terms, not anything about you personally, so it doesn’t seem like it would feed into the surveillance capital machine. I don’t like it, but if it keeps FF viable I’ll roll with it. I just hope it’s the ONLY thing they do and not the start of a slippery slope down
