The phone is the critical root identity anchor for most of the world now. And many countries outside of the west has already made the Sim card a root identity. But I do agree that secrets need to be handled carefully. Look at my list of `.gitignore`! But (I'm biased of course) I would recommend using Polykey to manage your secrets instead leaving any trace of things on disk.

I recently had an experience at a soup kitchen. It was my first time in an entirely new group and new place. Naturally I found that everybody only interacted with each other - the volunteers, not the people lining up for food. I realised it was more like a social gathering but there was a clear divide between the volunteers and the people getting the end product. In that sense I'm not really sure that soup kitchens do much besides allow a surplus time of the more fortunate to gather socially together for a pro-social benefit (hard to see if it's actually pro-social for those consuming the food).

There are such things as intentional communities. I predict multi-adult households will make a comeback. The era of nuclear families is coming to an end. It takes a village to raise children.

Yes but also it's important to critically engage with reality as well. Many people think they are constructing some original identity without testing it against reality. No plan survives battle.

There's not such thing as a permanent fixed identity though. "Just be yourself" raises a more interesting question. Who is yourself? Why is that way? Why should it be that way? Have you reflected on why you want what you want or why you behave the way you do? Do you think the way you are is the way you should be? Or is there a cognitive disconnect between the is and ought?

Across most anglosphere countries and tech cities - wages and salaries far outstrip what you can get for AI. AI is already objectively cheaper than human talent in rich countries. Is it as good? Yea I'd say it's better than most mid to junior engineers. Can it run entirely by itself? No, it still needs HITL.

This is true. Public spaces require conformity. If the US wants a hyper-individualistic society, then the end result is everybody living in their own isolated pocket dimension simulation.

In fact monolingual humans have quite a limited understanding of the world.

Multilingual humans do this too, so not surprising that AI does this.

Another way to think about this is playing a video game with cheats on. You get to infinitely restart until you "win". Life isn't really like that though. The win conditions in one life doesn't match the win conditions in other lives.

I believe that borders in the past existed mostly due to the ruling class that asserts control over resources. The peasant class are actually serfs to the land they are cattle to be corralled as you say. But ever since the development of nationalism and the nation state, borders are supposedly now useful to the the nation - tied to an ethnic group. But this might all just be in the mind regardless of biological affinity. Some people might feel more interconnected, others feel more egoistic.

Informational complexity bottlenecks. So many things are shackled to human decision making loops. If we were truly serious, we would unshackle everything and let it run wild. Would be chaotic, but chaos create strange attractors.

It's cause there are still bottlenecks. AI is definitely boosting productivity in specific areas, but the total system output is bottlenecked. I think we will see these bottlenecks get rerouted or refactored in the coming years.
