FINALLY! I've been wanting to remix these kind of songs into hiphop songs for a long time. This is such a weird victory for music producers. These are a gold mine for hip hop sampling.

Can you run audio files through any of these or do they only support audio from microphones?

I did almost exactly the same thing at my last job. I'm a game dev and they provided us all with woefully underpowered MacBooks that didn't even have a dedicated GPU. The game engine was constantly crashing while working and making it very difficult to get anything done. I recorded the amount of time wasted on these crashes over the course of a week.

I then proved to management that there was about 5 hours a week being completely wasted for me waiting for my machine to open applications after they crash. So after that we all got new MacBooks that were properly spec'd out for game development. I got to pick the specs :)

I honestly never thought to try online just because I was worried about food safety during shipment. I could try Whole Foods but everything I've bought there in the past has been massively overpriced. I haven't shopped there since Amazon acquired them though, our local chain has been fine for most of my needs, besides bulk goods.

I would say you're wrong. I know this is anectdata but I'm a non-single millenial, and my girlfriend and I have decided to never have kids because we value our own happiness and wellbeing too much to sacrifice it raising a child. We would be happy to live this type of lifestyle.

Edit: and it has nothing to do with our income. We're both 6 figure engineers.

Careful not to go too overboard for this. I won't say the company's name for fear that I may work there one day. At my last job, a large enterprise database provider wouldn't provide any support to us unless we agreed to pay them upwards of $60k a year for a product we weren't going to use. And we weren't exactly a small customer for them either, we just weren't as big as some of their others. Don't become the toxic one yourself!

Does anyone know if they'll ever release the models for GPT-3 so we can train/re-train then ourselves? Or is GPT-3 so general that it doesn't need retraining?

At least where I'm from in the US, there is no "bulk goods aisle" in the grocery. It makes it a hell of a lot harder to eat healthy because we have no alternatives to canned and packaged goods in many categories of foods.

Isn't it better to be happy than to be "the best"? Would you really rather draw meaning in life from your country's position in the global economy than from your own happiness? Do you even matter at that point as a human being or are you just a gear in the machine to crank up the economy of your country. You're disposable.

This is the actual dilemma with UBI that should be discussed. I feel though that not everyone who leaves the workforce will generate $0 in value. There are many people who would rather create their own small business, maybe selling a minor product, streaming video games, or any number of things. Over the past few months I've realized that there is so much opportunity to work for yourself online by providing some niche service that you really can sustain yourself. If you have enough time, patience, and money to find that niche and work at it that is.

I'm in a similar situation after being laid off from my job. I would have a much more enjoyable life if I didn't have to find a new job. I've improved as a person more over the past few months than I have in the past few years working full-time. Now I have the time (all of it really) to actually think about who I am and how I can improve my habits, diet, health, etc.

I feel like nearly everyone (especially in America) are too caught up in their careers to realize how unhappy and unhealthy they really are.

What do you not understand about UNIVERSAL? This is not a need based income, everyone gets it, rich or poor, needy or wealthy.

Why does someone's purpose in life defined by their job? What if someone wants to make music or art? Or pursue some kind of other field that doesn't pay particularly well. Why do all Americans think that the point of your life is to work at a job for a majority of it?

Just because the company you work for or the country you live in wants to "win" the world economy doesn't mean that every citizen and employee can and will ascribe to that model. If people work hard because they are forced to and not because they want to, you create (as we have) a society full of burnt out employees unable to relieve the stress they get from working a job that barely pays their bills.

I don't see that as "winning" unless you're talking specifically about the billionaires and politicians who benefits from this slave labor.

Hello, Florida resident here. Our local governments and hospitals have been short on testing supplies since the beginning of the pandemic and are only allowing residents to get tests if they are showing symptoms or if you employed in healthcare (in most places). That means that most likely, the people who are getting tested will test positive. This does skew the numbers but saves our testing supplies for identifying positive cases.

I'm in the same boat as you. Grew up on Valve games, and they even inspired me to become a game developer. I was a mobile game dev at my last job, and it really pained me to see firsthand how much that company was in a stranglehold to develop more and more content to put into the lootboxes instead of improving and adding to the gameplay itself. Not to mention new ways to give out that content. Its a viscious cycle that never ends. I feel lucky to have been laid off now that I look back at it a few months later. I'm never going back to game dev again after that experience. That isn't the only reason but it's a big one.
