I have a friend who has been saved by this and I have two funny points.

CF makes you not process food correctly so you can eat a ton of food and not gain weight. After taking this medicine he was upset because his body started processing food correctly and he put on a bunch of weight initially.

This really is a life saving cure for most general genetic versions of CF but he also remarked that it’s great they found a cure now because it’s basically a white people disease and the amount of funding it got for a cure was likely going to come under scrutiny.

I work at USPS and rural carriers are paid on evaluated time. While some locations don’t get many packages because Amazon has taken the load off with their own contractors, many offices have to make multiple trips because of the package load which essentially means USPS workers in those rural offices are working for free on those second trips. The package load is a real problem.

Because if the recording goes past the clipping range for digital audio it still records the data and preserves it. 32bit recording has serious advantages because it’s much easier to record a hot input because digital clipping is not possible. You just need to pull the volume down on the recorded clip after the fact and there is no clipping.

I have a lynx hilo and it does 32 bit input. It’s incredibly nice for recording because if the input hits clipping range you can just lower the volume on the 32 bit recording after the fact and the recording is preserved. Lots of high end DACs have a 32 bit input output option because of this.

Bismuth is going to be the metal of the future, TSMC is also using it in their 1 nm process. As the uses for topological insulators make it to industry I think Bismuth is going to become a priority for companies to secure sourcing. China currently controls 75 percent of the supply.

Proponents of Ivermectin will push back on this study since advocates have been clear that it is only an effective treatment if used as preventative prophylactic or within the first few days of symptomatic response to infection.

It looks like the study did adjust the dosage level to a value recommended by advocates of Ivermectin like the FLCCC, .04mg per kilogram. However Ivermectin proponents have been vocal that many of the negative studies only administer Ivermectin well past initial onset of covid symptoms. I would like to find the data on how long after initial onset of symptoms, or a covid positive test, Ivermectin was given. I do not see any links to the current study in question all I see from the MSM links are PowerPoint slides and a symposium presentation. The study groups website only has links to a previous off label treatment study that included other potential therapeutics but not Ivermectin. If anyone knows where you can read the preprint I would love to take a look.

Except that it is impossible to find early Disney war cartoons or more importantly “Song of the South”. Just FYI 30ms from hardware sources is terrible, I can achieve under 2.5ms round trip with Dante at 128 buffer settings and the older MADI protocol achieves similar levels.

If android can get its audio latency act together there is some real opportunity here to steal market share from Apple. Since the release of the 2nd iPad Pro Apple has forced audio processing onto the slower low power CPU core, this means that for the last three years I can run all my iOS synth applications at 96kHZ with a low buffer sample size without any drop outs on my first gen iPad Pro and an iPad mini 3. What I cannot do is get similar performance on last year's iPad Pro. It is absolute insanity that Apple has no work around to direct audio processing to the high powered cores for apps made for musicians. Presumably at some point they will allow you to do this with a documented programing call but it has been three years of bad performance on synth applications due to the necessity to have high sample buffers (ie high latency).

I think Silver is the straw that will break the camels back, it’s hard to know if it will be in 1 or 50 years but it’s fungible and affordable while also having increased industrial usage. At this point it is almost at parity for industrial consumption as it was in the 90s when silver was used to develop analog film. It’s certainly true that topological insulators may replace silver in many electron transfer applications. That being said medical uses due to the way it kills micro organisms through sulfur attraction, and it’s thermal properties, will possibly continue to expand industrial consumption.

Completely agree, while proprietary what Audinate has done with Dante is nothing short or a miracle. With their PCI-E FPA I have less then a 2ms round trip latency with my Hilo interface at 96Khz resolution. Additionally the virtual sound card can do 4ms latency in one direction with most modern CPUs.

While the gist of your argument is technically correct you are missing one important factor, amplification wether through solid state transistor or analog tubes, causes distortion. With 44.1 kHz all sine waves above 22 kHz cannot be reproduced which makes for some pretty unpleasant distortion harmonics if those wave forms are being fed through the wire without a filter on the output signal.

We shouldn't kill the penny because it is a reminder that our currency has been inflated and is no longer worth a small fraction of what it once was. Never forget that pre-1965 coinage besides the penny was made of 90 percent silver. A face value of 1.40 in pre-1965 dimes and quarters is worth 20.00 today, the fact that a penny, not even made of copper, is too expensive to make should be concerning.

I agree with your assessment, the yen is a small fraction of the global reserve currency pool compared to the USD, dollar denominated debts destroy the competitiveness of other economies which can be seen when you graph the DXY against emerging market etfs. There is no alternative to the dollar right now but there is also no real alternative to the manufacturing and materials base in China. Domestically alone China can source a significant amount of material and in many sectors they supply the majority of mining output for the world, next after them is usually Russia. The US's purchasing power and GDP only exists because the world trades using dollars. It amazes me that more people that post on hacker news aren't as concerned as I feel about the current situation. Whether you own crypto or not you would be crazy to hold bonds or debt as an investment over precious metals with the state of the world being what it is.
