I really don't like that phrase. It should be "reality has a progressive bias". Progressive is the opposite of conservative. "Liberal" is a specific ideology, and will end up in a position somewhere on the progressive-conservative spectrum based on how progressive or conservative it is.

Specifically it is the ideology of Capitalism, representative democracy, the rule of law, etc... basically the ideology of the enlightenment.

This misuse of Liberal is easy to track the etymology. The colloquial usage of "liberal" does sound like an opposite of conservative, it's basically a synonym for "lenient". But colloquial usage is often totally incorrect in certain contexts, like this one.

People who use "liberal" as an opposite of conservative are just bad at type theory.

This seems to relate to my quest as a metamage "to identify and assemble the Epistemological Primes into the Knowledgecore and use it to defeat the Omnarch". I'm taking a somewhat opposite approach to a PhD, embracing what I've seen someone else refer to as "high-leverage generalism" but at the metaphorical doctorate level.

All this stuff about tokens and vectors is quite different from my approach. I'm always interested to see how other metamages approach this issue.

I think a hypergraph structure is the only thing capable of properly representing knowledge. Knowledge is not just a bunch of nodes with 1:1 connections; there's complex structure in the nodes.

This relies on false definitions of capitalism and communism, definitions which I believe are carefully crafted to preclude you from having certain thoughts.

You seem to understand capitalism as "freedom" and communism as "government control". These false definitions are what leads people to believe Democrats or Nazis are leftists, when they're very far from it.

Really, capitalism is that thing where when you work harder your boss gets richer. Someone else besides you is the owner of the products of your labor. Capitalism allows the capital-owning class to use the worker class as machinery for a free ride through life.

Socialism (communism isn't quite the right word here) is "worker ownership and control of the means of production". Yes that has included tyranny in the past, but modern socialists are mostly of the libertarian type and totally reject government control of anything.

Yes, advertising is a lot like capitalism, but that's because they both serve only to redirect productive capacity towards things which the parasitic class wants instead of what we need. Advertising convinces you to buy useless trinkets and to think in ways you never would have thought otherwise.

It's a totalitarian nightmare right now too, what rock are you living under? Why would one group of the same ideology be tyrants and not the other, just because they have a few different policy opinions?

Democrats slap a rainbow on everything and call it liberation. Republicans slap red white and blue on everything and call it freedom. They're both pawns of the same ruling class who get a free ride on our backs.

I think hitting your kid is okay only if they put themselves or others in danger. Kid putting a fork into the breaker box? Smack the stupid out of em. You need to associate mortal danger with not wanting pain.

Like that time I ran out in front of a car. Well deserved whoopin.

That time I said a curse word was not a deserved whoopin.

You can almost imagine it sobbing in between sentences, can't you?

No, that's not the image I had in my head. My head canon is more like:

"Oh wow, oh no, oh jeez (hands on head in fake flabbergastion) would you look at that, oh no I deleted everything (types on keyboard again while deadpan staring at you) oh noooooo oh god oh look what I've done it just keeps getting worse (types even more) aw jeez oh no..."

Reminds me of that Michael Reeves video with the suggestion box. "oh nooooo your idea went directly in the idea shredder how could we have possibly forseen this [insert shocked Pikachu meme]"

While I am led to believe that all currently existing billionaires are members of the parasite class, an exact arbitrary amount of money isn't what makes someone a parasite. There are people who are ostensibly in the "lower class" if based on raw dollar amount, but who are members of the parasite class by nature of engaging in economic parasitism against other people.

It's the economic equivalent of a biological parasite. The class of people who get a free ride on the worker's backs. Those include, but are not limited to: non-worker shareholders, landlords, and all types of scam artist.

Ya know, the people who have designed our entire society to benefit themselves. The people who have turned us into mindless machinery. Those are parasites. They infect our society and make it sick and weak. They take over our collective nervous system to place us in the optimal position for the parasite's benefit.

Misnomers and simply choosing the wrong words are what caused it to fail. Everyone says "climate change" and "global warming", not "global poisoning" or "extinction event". Who cares about the exact numbers? Obviously spilling trillions of tons of poison into the air, water, and soil year after year for over a century is causing problems, and anyone who doesn't understand how that works is probably too far gone to educate; maybe they'd understand a little better if we closed them up in a room and lit a few cigarettes.

It's the same as people who hate billionaires instead of hating the parasite class. Lots of overlap but ultimately the incorrect category.

OP needs to read a bit about "Domain-specific Languages", maybe design a few of their own. If SQL is so bad, make a new one that's better. To some people that might sound like a big joke or sarcasm or something. Real developers know it's not. Make your own SQL, OP. I mean it.

What you are fundamentally arguing is that you should be able to do something without learning how to do it. You mentioned you simply want to slap stuff into a box and never think about what's really happening. This is the problem.

Here's what you're probably forgetting: The language is that way because of how the thing works. If you don't understand the language, you probably don't understand how the database works under the hood either. And this will lead you to make simple mistakes without being able to debug them, and it will generally lead to bad design decisions because you didn't know any better.

Reminds me of when I was learning git. DAMMIT did I ever hate git. It was just so confusing, nothing made sense. I made a post just like yours here, decrying git as a total piece of crap that only brainwashed people would ever use. Like why can't I just say "git push something" and then it asks for my GitHub password, instead of all this nonsense about private keys and public keys and exporting and signing and holy fuck it never actually gets to the part where I have code and I fucking just put it in there and write down what I changed and push it and BAM it's actually done. Don't even get me started on branching and merging.

I finally let go of my preconceptions about how I wanted git to work and spent the time to learn how it really does work under the hood. And now I have no trouble using git. It was my own fault. My own mentality.

Dig slightly deeper into all this realm of right-wing software stuff. The X11 thing led me down a rabbit hole. All sorts of nonsense.

I found a CODE_OF_ETHICS that's full of Christian requirements, like you have to believe in god and do all that self-hating "attribute all good to god and all bad to yourself" nonsense. And these people think they're being "anti-discriminatory". LOL

I second this, and even as a person who doesn't have a phone, I feel that thing deep down sometimes that makes me feel like I need to be doing something. I think it ties both into the hyperstimulation epidemic and use of people as machinery by the capital-owning ruling class. We've both been trained and trained ourselves to feel bad when we're doing nothing, as if we're wasting something that has value.

They sit on their ass all day and can afford yachts and vacations, meanwhile the people doing the real work can't afford basic life necessities if they miss more than 0.5 days of work per year. They provide negative value. Anyone can make math say anything.

I think the focus on [any]aires and certain amounts of money and redistribution causes people to gloss over the real issue. The existence of billionaires is only possible through exploitation. They make the world a horrible place for their personal benefit, treat us all like machinery. Who cares the exact dollar amount they have? A parasite with $100 is still worthy of being exterminated.

Light mode users are the people who shined flashlights in their eyes in school to try to make people think they're cool. "No it actually feels good to me". Poor attention-seeking little dudes never could feel cool enough.

I think the most unpopular opinion I've expressed here on HN was arguing against someone tracking down and entrapping their family member to prevent them from committing suicide. I believe everyone has that right even if they're "mentally ill".
