Not sure about you guys, but I plan to not give my kids a phone until they reach at least the age of 14 (7 and 3 atm)

Is this realistic? Any experiences?

Some month ago they removed the Speed Up option when watching YT on TV. This basically costs me hours of my life as I normally watch videos on 1.5 speed...

In a study that was done by the guys at Manager-Tools, they found out that a 1o1 every 4 weeks is worse than no 1o1 at all.

Google Sheets is based on canvas. Works pretty good for me.

In my experience it's important to not ask "easy" questions that can be answered by a simple yes/no.

Instead of: Are you friendly to remote work? Ask: Will I be working with anyone who is remote, or who works from home on a regular basis?

Instead of: Is the work life balance good? Ask: How responsive are people to emails/Slack over the weekends and after 6pm?

Instead of: Can I have a good career path? Ask: Did any of your senior engineers start out as junior engineers here?

My personal story from Germany: My 14 month old son got a deaseae in the spine so he could not walk anymore.

We spent 4 weeks in the hospital. 1 week until it was diagnosed in the MRT, 3 weeks with 3 different antibiotic treatment and another two month antibiotics at home.

All this while my wife continued to study for her PHD so I stayed away from work and lived with my son in the hospital.

This whole experience did cost us around 200€ (incl. gasoline to drive to the hospital) while still getting full income from my employer.

Does somebody know if there's a more recent one? It looked impressive even it's age.

At the press conference after the 4th game it was mentioned that AlphaGo was not trained on professional games at all.

They used strong amateur player games from public archives.

It was also mentioned that AlphaGo needs millions of games to be trained. Even if they added a few hundred Lee Sedol games, the impact would be very small.

I really like SVG. But because of some performace issues, I sometimes think I want to recreate the rendering engine in Canvas.

In Germany at least, downloading is not a big problem as is sharing and uploading.

Does it mean that whenever I click on a link I must be afraid that my computer will start to participate in a filesharing network?

What if a website uses the technology to spread copyrighted material in the background without me knowing about it? Maybe the website had a simple XSS hole that allowed an attacker to do it?

So later I will get a fine for spreading copyrighted material and I don't even know where it came from?
