I think he is right but the biggest issue is that Wall Street has become solely a place for 'transfer of wealth'. They do not care about value or know what it is, i.e. people like Warren Buffet stepping in recognizing value and investing when the price does not match the value.

But I think the biggest problem is the market is so huge and the more money you feed it the more irrational it gets, doesn't matter wether algorithms or humans are doing the trading.

Irrational trading creates bubbles and they gamble value away until the bubble burst. And even after the bubble burst its just a reset to the market.

I do not know where it is headed but I think one day countries will realize that they were better off with out mr.market because when the value companies build are traded away and in turn the middle class/country suffers, wall street walks away with the money, i.e. the house always wins in the end.

I don't think it is just about improving, reinventing or redesigning something. Each problem has its own issues and maybe different in enough unique ways that its better to start from scratch every time so you solve the problem fully with out being trapped by another solution. Then decide to pick up a well known tool or make your own that fits.

I think this saying is an unfortunate one and becomes more misleading as newer and newer "wheels" keep coming out.

For me a larger monitor out does any other setup. As a dev I have multiple windows open, generally three or more and I have to move back and forth. The less key strokes, mouse movements or head movement to me means less change in context and the more I can stay on my thought processes. The more I stay focused means less time wasted. This is especially true over a longer period of dev time, or especially when you have a learning curve to work through.

I usually get funny looks from the laptop dev's when I argue the point, but I have gotten a few people to try it and most converted. It maybe a creature of habit issue or get into the practice of going through certain motions but I do not think it is subjective for each individual.

There are many theories on this, its pretty well know that the swastika pre-dates Hitler by thousands of years. But some people think that he chose it because of something called the "Aryan Invasion" of India, of which some believe that one of the original ancient religious books now adopted by Hindus was written by the Aryans. There is evidence of the symbol not just in ancient Indian civilizations, but in ancient European as well and is thought to be carried through to India. But no one knows for sure, and no one knows exactly why Nazi/Hitler chose it.

Is there another side to this story, why did you quit your job in the first place? Was the other job that much better?

I agree if it is a time constraint thing you have no choice in approaching your prior company. But if not I would keep looking for something that fills your need, like the Posterous post you will learn a lot more than just RoR.
