Hi HN, long time lurker first time poster.

Check out my startup I made as a solo founder over 2.5 years.

It has:

    Minutely Backups (Point-in-Time Machine)
Grafana and PostHog built in (Insites Analytics)
    Staging Sites
Bi-Directional Git Sync (Develop in PHPStorm/VS Code)
    Custom Emails
API Access for web design agencies
    More!
The backend is in FastAPI

If this sounds good, try it out. If you don’t like it, I’ll refund your plan - no worries.

They basically do the same thing, but lutris is much nicer with a bigger suite of options.

Absolutely, not only a single neurotransmitter but can have completely different effects in different regions of the brain and most articles are extremely reductive.

This study in particular though is very well done, just publishing striatal dopamine and hopefully we'll see more studies like this in the future to piece it together.

Reminds me of the recent episode of South Park where "journalists" like Vox claim to be for human rights but bend over to get Chinese payouts. Also why does this post say it's 3 hours old when it was posted yesterday?

Reminder that: If you check the AndroidManifest.xml of TikTok app you'll see they are tracking persistent device identifiers coupled with phone #. Then if you uninstall TikTok you'll still have a bunch of their files in shared space that other Chinese apps can pick up were you to install them, presumably so they can track you even if you uninstall the app.

We’re working on a security focused managed Wordpress hosting platform with custom email and templates included. If you’d like to beta test it email admin@ sitebay.org and we’ll put you up for however long you need free. Thanks to YC summer startup school for hooking us up with some compute credits.

No one should really be considered an authority in the field of psychology. Sure they can get things right sometimes but it's not rigorous enough fundamentally to add much validity. It's their bread and butter to spam NHST at the data until something sticks.

This article made me pretty sad and made me think of this too. I think what an ethical investor needs to do is not deploy capital to any industries that don't add real economic value or wealth or whatever you want to call it. Also, ethical founders should refuse capital from orgs that fund these projects. Basically starve these projects out, but that's sort of idealistic.

Dopamine’s founders argue that they reserve the right to deny service to specific companies whose work seems to be off the level...

Just "trust" us. There are obviously many teams working on doing this, but never so audacious. These things are definitely not a value add to society, yet very profitable, like e.g. heroin if that doesn't sound too hyperbolic.

I've seen coinhive scripts running on a few sketchy sites including tpb, but to see it on a billion dollar enterprise e.g. UFC is pretty surprising. It's not ethical at all considering running a cpu mining script which might cost the user $1 in electricity might net the controller maybe a penny of that in crypto.
