Admirer of all things, software developer by choice, electrical engineer by training, maker by nature. Father, cyclist, martial artist, lover of great entertainment. Years ago I could say I had tried just about everything once, sometimes twice. Now I am content to contemplate life in Atlanta.

Their CEO needs to tell them to remove the lorum ipsum from the landing page.

"Quis tellus eget adipiscing convallis sit sit eget aliquet quis. Suspendisse eget egestas a elementum pulvinar et feugiat blandit at. In mi viverra elit nunc."

I personally find the AI allows me to think at a more abstract level. For me as a maker, this is fabulous! I dont have to worry if I am crossing my T and dotting my i, I get to worry about the overall composition. Which for me at least is mind-blowing!

Use the force Luke!

I finally learned to let go of the code. I dont even run my C++ editor anymore.

I run frequent code and architectural reviews. Its awesome.

Indeed there are different kinds of learning, which the poster is not aware of.

No booking learning is needed for 4-9 year old's. But learning patience, understanding, empathy are life long pursuits.

Does anyone here remember owning games on disk?

It was a royal pain in the ass!

You had to inset the disk every time you wanted to play game. The disks got scratched, destroyed, or rearranged by the wife.

Steam has saved me from all of that. Plus I can share my whole library with my family members.

Sure I might lose access to them all when I die, but 20 years from now who is going to care?

As someone who has been a coder/em/vp/founder for over 40 years.

The last 3 months of using Claude Code has convinced me that in order to have a job in software very soon you will have to a both a coder and an engineering manager.

It takes both of those skills to effectively manager AI, and managing AI teams is all it will be about within 2 years. Problem is if you dont understand coding, its hard to see the traps AI falls into. They are both amazingly smart, and incredibly dumb at the same time. Just like people!

I mean all the major hurdles of making a game aren't really helped much by AI...

I have been using Claude Code to develop a game in unreal engine. It is fricking amazing. Its like hiring someone with 10 years experience to work for you. I am really impressed by how it know game patterns.

It definitely doesn't get anything visual right really. Sometimes it struggles to things things right visually, other times it nails it!

I have been using an MCP from gemini image 1.5 to generate my icons. And once it go my styles down, after 20 experiments, it does really good. Notice: It uses high quality by default which will burn up your credits. But if you turn down the image quality to low, it cost around 3 cents an icon.

There isn't large amounts of automated testing.

Some things can be easily automated for testing. But other things require play testing.

The art is also going to all be really derivative plagiarism

I am just using it to generate icons, and it does great. For 3D artwork I either use things from the FAB Store, or I pay a team of artists in Pakistan to do it.

Overall I say it is the equivalent to have a senior dev on your team, for 100 bucks a month

edited for line breaks.

Honestly the HBO streaming engineers should be promptly shot (or possibly their managers). HBO has the worst streaming interface of any service. Netflix on the other hand is quite good.
