Nice puzzles, thanks letting me have a couple of fun minutes with those.

In the star battle (at least the medium I played) the solutions are non-unique and there you sometimes make random mistakes, which is a bit annoying. Unless I'm missing something because it's already late, but I'm quite sure.

More seriously though, I think some sort of curation is unavoidable with such topics. If you get inspired by stack overflow where you have some similar mechanics at work, then I'd say that is not too bad. But of course you risk some people being angry about why their amazing vibe coded app is not being shown. Although the more I think of it, this might be a good thing.

Edit: One more thought just came to my mind. A slight modification to the curation rule, you let everything through, just like now. However, the posts are reviewed and those with enough postive review votes get marked in some shape or form, which allows them to be filtered and/or promoted on the show page.

Additionally i would argue that in every such programm there will be people that abuse the system. Just because gp knows one such person, does not mean that everybody will be doing that.

Correct. Usually you need to perform a so called surface protocol after surfacing to show you are still conscious enough. This can be e.g. the removal of your mask, an OK sign and saying "I'm OK". Only if you do that within 15 seconds after surfacing your performance will be valid.

And regarding easy to blackout. Yes and no, I personally avoided it for over 12 years, but then again, I'm no world class athlete and only an enthusiastic hobbyist.

You cant avoid co2 build-up, you can only slow it down, main factor here is relaxation. Particularly your brain needs loads of o2, so if you can keep that calm it helps a lot. Obviously a slow metabolism helps as well, so before big static performances fasting is common.

And regarding co2 tolerance, it is a training effect. With training you can withstand much higher levels of co2 without resulting in panic

To answer your questions:

- A coach / safety will give a signal to the athlete, e.g. pinching of the arm and the athlete will react to it by e.g. lifting a finger.

- Training. You get to know your body and limits very well when training freediving for a longer time. That does not mean that you always avoid blackouts, particularly in competitions they happen but that's what safeties are for. In the end, a free diving competition is one of the safest places to explore your limits.

Nice implementation. I found it very intuitive to find the necessary features like marking a mine or tapping on a number that has all its mines marked to reveal the safe squares.

But it might still be good to put a short description somewhere for people not as familiar with the game.

Would be interesting to know what integrator they use. Verlet schemes can be implemented with very little effort and they don't suffer from this issue (see e.g. the leap frog method). But in general you would nearly always add some sort of damping mechanism, particularly for CG applications.

No worries. I would still consider these methods to be very different from each other. SPH, FVM and so on are methods to discretize continuum equations. If you have a continuum equation that describes your granular material you can use them and DEM kind of interchangeably. But often times such continuum equations do not exist for granular media or they break down in certain flow regimes. DEM on the other hand is not based on the continuum representation. Instead it is based on interaction forces that originate from particles being close by. While it might be possible to link these two, afaik nobody has done this, but I'm no longer active in the field.

Regarding your questions, yes, DEM also benefits a lot from GPU acceleration. So you can compare it to a CPU based code, but obviously there's an order of magnitude you can gain via GPU.

Usually you are not interested in the fine fields anyways. Think of some fine powder in a big process, where there are trillions of real particles inside. You can't and don't want to simulate that. Mostly you are interested in these course quantities anyways and getting statistical data, so for that there's no need for the fine resolution.

Regarding the numerical model that can compute these things in a more efficient way, they don't always exist. When you move to large numbers of particles you can sometimes go to continuum models, but they might not always behave as the real thing, as it's really difficult to find governing equations for such materials.

I'm sorry, but DEM is not for fluid simulation. It's used to simulate granular materials by default. Also the hopper discharge that is shown does not contain any fluid. The fluid is usually modeled using a different tool (e.g. using the finite volume method) which is then coupled to the particles.
