I enjoyed the first portion of the article until the 1/3 of the screen was taken over by a call to subscribe to their newsletter.

I can certainly relate to feeling the happiest at work when I writing more code and dealing with less deployment/maintenance work.

I also feel the happiest when my manager or his boss has expressed that the project I am working on is important for X reasons. It isn't just the request to make this my top priority but also the increased attention that tends to come with that declaration. It feels nice to know that someone actually cares about a feature I am writing and when they say "Top Priority" they mean it and do their best to deal with all the process related "stuff" , ensure that I get rapid feedback and responses from other groups as fast as possible. It really kills the "flow" to be stuck on a portion of the project that can't go forward until the SQL DBA decides to check there email.

I've expressed in the past that I often feel like a code monkey churning out units of work and I think most of that comes down to a lack of recognition for things I am working on or realizing that what I am working on just isn't that important. I can't tell if I just like the attention of working on "important" projects or if the important projects just happen to be the most fun.

I am a bright shining star and I just want someone to say thank you (mild sarcasm)

I'll be curious to hear opinions from more experienced Software Devs, I came from a production support team where we did quite a bit of "high profile" firefighting and moved into Dev 1-2 years ago. Dev is certainly more... mundane.

I couldn't agree more. I used to jailbreak my phone just for f.lux when it used to be easier.

I would wager that your attention to security as it relates to addons puts you in the minorty when compared to the Firefox user base.

I could see folks that are starting a new business with relatively few employees and no immediate plans for explosive non-remote worker growth being interested though.

As for me, I don't have a reason to move to a small city without many non-related work activities to engage in. I like the city life. I understand that others would embrace the slower-paced outdoor Montana life style. However, for me it is not a selling point :(

I am unfamiliar with the bitcoin bot atmosphere but I am guessing it isn't a stretch to assume that other bots exist, what made you decide to write your own?

I tried it. I wasn't a fan of streaming @ 15 FPS w/ a max bitrate of 1,500 Kbps.

Can you select the geographical region the test is run from? i never found it useful to have a test run from a random geog area. I want to have the same test run from multiple locations every polling period.

The ability to rent a cheap VM to run a C# MVC application is great! Previously, I only wrote C# @ work, now I have the ability to do it outside and in. No one wants to pay XX$ more per month to license windows on a VM(at least not for the hobby stuff I do outside of work for fun)

I imagine it will be the same for iOS developers, it may not draw in new developers but there is a good chance that is may be used on projects that would've typically used a different platform simply because swift only runs on iOS.

The language probably won't see an explosive growth in new developers but you will see swift being picked over another language in places it wouldn't previously run.

The spotify mobile app has some odd behavior from time to time. The UI will continue to respond to my actions but nothing actually happens for 20 seconds, during that time i'll click on several different songs attempting to get them to play.

Finally, for whatever reason, the app springs back to life an begins to execute the actions out of some sort of queue leading to several songs playing. It seemed very odd to queue song plays in such manner. I would've assumed it would be last one wins rather than "Song 1" - play for 2 seconds "Song 2" - Play for 2 seconds "Song 3" - play for 2 seconds

I may have clicked "Play song 2" 15 seconds ago before the song is actually played.

Overall, I love spotify though. I use it everywhere.

Pluralsight certainly is a good resource if you are more diligent than myself at managing your own curriculum.

I suggest reading the article to really understand what they are saying rather than dissecting the little tidbit I picked out but it sounds as if it doesn't matter if the exact same drug is used to treat both humans and animals, there is still a threat.

I would disagree that this would be considered jumping on the populous band wagon, if you've read the article, you'll see that Schwab originally released an Op-Ed in the summer of 2103 echoing similar concerns.

He took a public stance on HFT a full year before the book was released.

I despise mail. I check it once a month and my box is crammed the max with ads and the important mail items are crumpled. I would unsubscribe from all mail if such a thing was possible.

I loved Outbox and will miss the service, however I do agree with the poster below. 5$ seemed like a steal.
