Sure, strategically taking on technical debt is sometimes beneficial to the company – just like sometimes taking on personal debt can be beneficial, too.

I think that discussions around technical debt really lack any mention of technical _credit_, the opposite of debt. Just like how you can take on debt in your codebase, you can save up credit, too. In an ideal world, you would always have savings so that you don't have to take on debt.

The SD cards may hold the data that long, but I don't think it's likely that it will be accessible. To computer enthusiasts with legacy hardware/software maybe. I shoot on film and I know that even my negatives will eventually fade. Photography has taught me to enjoy life because everything eventually ends.

Agreed, that was my intention. The cultural narrative in Western societies is that young people are less important, that they aren't capable of contributing to society in as meaningful a way. While this is attitude is certainly less visible in the tech scene, I felt this post could serve as an important reminder that people of all ages have a lot to offer.

For right-click-and-drag (something I do a lot in Xcode), hold down the control key – that simulates a right-click.

I have depression and it frustrates me to no end when the clinic doctors I see to renew my prescriptions act as though I don't need them – that I would be better off without my medication. I don't really care if I'm getting better because of the placebo effect and I don't care if I'm getting better and that actually benefits a drug company. I just care that I'm getting better.
