I think the more likely scenario is they know the value of the conversations they datamine, but don't want to lose customers to these other message apps that tout their encryption. So they do the bare minimum to support encryption while still having access to most data.

I see this as the end game to pretty much all these companies that claim to enable the 'sharing economy'. Why share 20% of your profits with Uber when you can share them with yourself?

It isn't clear from the description, but does this allow you to have tasks become 'triggered' for lack of a better term once a task has been completed? eg I want my task list in the morning to say make eggs and bacon, then once I've done that a new task pops up for me to do the dishes.

I think badges only work if there is actual wealth/value behind them. No one will use them as true status symbols, rather just fun things, and they should be priced as such.

What I think twitter should do is act as a notary of sorts, and the badges would reflect real world accomplishments, like being graduated from a certain institution, membership in a professional group, etc. Something that gives your comments more weight. People/institutions would pay for this.

I'm certainly not in the market for a webserver with lua support, but if I were I would definitely be looking at nginx first. May I suggest that you make a subsection/table that delineates why someone would go for this rather than nginx? There is a section that says that if you think of apache/nginx first then that {nginx/apache} is probably best for you, but I think lumping in apache and nginx together may be a mistake, and even if I'm giving preferential treatment to nginx I may be swayed nonetheless.

The bezels for each window are crazy. If tablets and phones can detect when my ear is near to the screen they should be able to know when my finger is nearing the screen then overlay some buttons, but otherwise dedicate that screen space to whatever content is in the app.

And they are completely correct. Even if people aren't able to bypass the HDMI encryption (which they will), a camera recording at 60fps at the screen will produce a near perfect copy, certainly 'good enough' for most people.

I do still see movies in theatre on occasion if the movie is better experienced in a group. Movie theatres need to start showing live events and offering better concessions, and alcohol. essentially become sports bars but with exceptional viewing quality.

And bars are currently eating their lunch, expanding in to other markets than sport that would be well suited to cinema venues. A number of bars in my area offer nights where they stream pro video games and they are regularly filled completely. Same thing with live streams of plays/operas which repertory theatres in my area have started to do, albeit with projectors that aren't nearly as good as your local cineplex.

I wonder if they limited the drive in software to 314gb and it's just a 500gb drive in reality. I have no idea how actual disks are produced and whether or not it's feasible to make specific platters for each product.

In any case very interesting, I wish there was a decent system w/ SATA for making DIY NAS devices, it seems though each raspi-ish with sata lacks gigabit ethernet, or they are limited to USB speeds.

I'm not suggesting you were, but these 'apps' work well at consuming the services of walled gardens without having to be within the walls. I use Huginn as a butler for information in twitter, forums, etc. Facebook has been a tough nut to crack though.
