I have a unproven suspicion that Rechargeable Energizer may actually be Panasonic cells. I tend to see them both marked as made in Japan and they both seem to be great quality.
The starting voltage is lower and drops faster making them not ideal for some applications and just annoying for some others (ie. motors start slow and get slower quicker than Alkaline).
Charge speeds also suck unless you get some of the fancy expensive chargers.

I personally have had nightmarish results with Amazon Basics Alkaline. In my experience these batteries have a greater tendency than other brands to leak over time and have destroyed multiple electronic equipment that I have owned. It was a big mistake on my part because I bought a large package of them, installed them and then didn't realize that many of them leaked until it was too late and they have eaten away many terminals in the different devices I put them in.
According to this [1] the unemployment rate in LA is 9.9% vs Chicago 7.5% Is that really the difference between a thriving city and an unlivable hellhole?
What I am getting at is trying to figure out which city minimizes the types of "idiots" you are referring to and i'm finding that no city is really like that. Every city has these kinds of problems to some extent as well as positive aspects.
Maybe you just like a smaller city? ~2-3 vs ~12 million is a big difference.
Correct me if I am wrong but the choice of SoC was due to the open nature of it and not the origin. All of the other limitations stem from the choice of SoC it seems.
Wow I kept picking the 128kbps MP3. Im using Sennheiser HD58X. I'm plugged into the headphone jack of my Desktop monitor which itself is getting audio via USB-C. Maybe the amp is bad in the monitor? Wonder if an external DAC would be any better.
I use an old iPod classic with a flash memory upgrade for offline audio listening and was considering this device because of perceived audio quality. From your description it sounds like this device is in the class of alibaba junk. It sounds like the software was an afterthought, fair enough. How does the audio quality compare to things like an iPhone/iPod etc?
From what I understand(I could be mistaken) BMW reused the i3 drivetrain in the Mini. While its impressive that they squeezed it into a smaller car, it shows their lack of seriousness that they reused 2013-ish technology in their newest EV. Given this, is it any surprise that the range, acceleration and other metrics are lacking compared to what else is on the market?
Seems like an opportunity to create a browser extension to have crowd sourced upvote/downvotes kind of like Reddit masstagger. Wonder if there is a way to ensure that upvote/downvotes are not tampered with on the server side.
Yes you described it better than I could have. It is a kind of nostalgia for the past moments of peace. I was in High School during the XP era and going into college into the Leopard era. Both were times where I wish I could redo so many things but also times where things were so exciting about the future and life in general.
Is there some service where I can easily create unlimited custom email addresses for a flat monthly fee? I want to use a unique email for each new website/service. That would go a long way to solving some data leak/privacy problems. The problem with custom domain is I have to maintain it right? I want a service which I don't have to maintain. I used to use new Yahoo accounts but they are a hassle and recently they disabled free auto-forwarding.
Wish I could go back to those XP days. I always feel calmer whenever I see that wallpaper or the Mac OS X Leopard background. In reality I think it is just that I am tired of seeing flat design everywhere.

I agree with you. I also feel ill after eating KFC. It seems more greasy than something like Popeyes. My body feels like it has had a sucker punch after eating KFC so I try to stay clear. My theory is that it is a combination of something in the breading they use + the method of frying.

Seems like Pressure fryers + breading might be the culprit but really, this is just a wild guess. If there are any fried chicken masters here, feel free to jump in.
I think you might be taking this a bit too far.
This was made possible in part by the culmination of multiple democratization events that made it viable for Yum Brands: a large company but nowhere near the big guys to be able to effectively punch above their weight class.
1) Youtube allowed them to shoot some silly 15 min short film and not have to worry about massive distribution costs or paying for a spot on TV.
2) The rise of Netflix and other streaming has helped to break down the walls that may have prevented KFC from even considering to hire people like Mario Lopez.
3) The Console is just a PC in a custom case. The increasing commoditization of tech + the rise of cheaper and cheaper manufacturing of commodity components allows the production of one off SKUs like this to be within reach to more and more organizations.
We see amazing quality videos being produced by people in their bedrooms. It stands to reason that an ambitious company with a decent budget would produce something like this.
Years ago, Google experimented with enabling regular people to buy TV ad spots through Google ADs. I feel like that was a democratization of getting on TV for regular people that I wish was continued but I guess Google had a different vision.
Interesting idea but is your site curated for some items or just 100% autogenerated/crowd sourced? For example, you have listed the Thinkpad X220 which is a 10 year old laptop. Furthermore I also noticed the Magic mouse and is that really considered buy it for life(in terms of repairable)? Speaking as someone who has purchased and accidentally destroyed multiple Magic Keyboards by liquid spills, I love their products but would never consider them "buy it for life" from a repair perspective.
We're lucky to be able to communicate to each other in civil manner without ripping each other apart for food.
That will go away once Climate Change reduces the ability of the planet to produce abundant resources needed for the modern way of life. The remaining carrying capacity of the planet will force a move back to subsistence farming and with that comes the inevitable brutal environment.

Can you elaborate on this further? I do not know what this means. I was not part of any local assemblies as I am not German, nor do I speak German, and many of the assemblies at 35c3 seemed to be treating me very coldly as they are just local clubs from all over Germany. (Understandable, I do not fault them).
My only recommendation here is to fly into Berlin and take the hourly train down to Leipzig. It' somewhat cheaper to fly into and the train ride is a nice ride.
yes. I was looking into this, Do you have a recommendation for a good website to explore train timetables and routes? What I have to be careful about is timing because if I need to stay overnight in Berlin then it may increase the cost such that if it wastes a lot of time, then it may not be worth saving the additional plane money(as many flights have stops in some other city on the way to Leipzig anyway).

There are bigger exhibition grounds in Germany (obviously Hannover, probably Köln and Frankfurt, possibly more), but not for this budget.
Oh ok thank you for the clarification. Your description just makes it so much more amazing that they have kept this up for 36 years now. Again, I was deeply thankful for all the amazing work the Angels and the greater Congress leadership did in making 35c3 such an unforgettable event.
I just wish it was a bit easier to get prepared to buy a ticket. It was very difficult and nerve wracking when I was up early to get in line for the ticket. The first sale caused the website to time out and so I thought there is no chance for me to compete with what I assume were automated ticket buyers.
The second sale is where I got lucky and grabbed a ticket as fast as possible. There must be some middle ground between this and having full open admission no? It is impossible to get perfect so I do not fault them for this.
Besides that, it's an open question if Congress actually wants to grow further. Accomodating more and more attendees from more diverse backgrounds runs the risk of losing your own identity.
Yes absolutely. There is no perfect solution to this. One one hand it would be a joy to introduce the hacker spirit to as big of an audience as possible. It could only lead to a better world. On the other hand, you run into problems that Defcon is experiencing with its 30,000+ attendees.
Soo hard to get a ticket. I was there for 35c3. Worst part is that since you don't know if you will get a ticket or not and you book hotels/flights only after you nab a ticket, you are paying increased prices vs booking far in advance.
Defcon has CCC beat in this area because you know you will get a ticket at Defcon. On the flipside, Defcon 27 last year was a complete mess because there were so many people. It was more Linecon than Defcon. However I am thankful to DarkTangent and his crew's efforts. The Goons did the very best they could and I am glad they are still doing it.
At 35c3 I got totally ripped off by Leipzig Taxis and my hotel which was cheaper but further away and not on the train path(at least easily).
Was it worth it? YES. Was worth every last penny. I am so thankful to the Chaos Computer Club for their efforts in putting on such an amazing event year after year. If I manage to make it back there again I will be volunteering as an Angel. I just wish it was cheaper to make it to Leipzig from the US but I understand that they are stretched to the gills in terms of capacity.

Its not like I don't focus on improving myself. Who doesn't focus on improving themselves in this industry? You have to keep improving or else you are finished at some point. Imagine a circle of the stimulating inspiring well paid jobs and another circle filled with the painful, boring non noteworthy jobs. The circles don't overlap. Somehow through connections, impressing that one higher up or being in the right place at the right time, some can jump into the good circle and never have to look back while everyone else is stuck. That does not mean all the people in the bad circle are bad developers. I have seen with my own two eyes a lot of brilliance(I know its just my word so you'll just have to believe me) but they are still stuck in that bad circle.
I love this inspiring response but someone who is on the outside trying to claw their way in cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel. I guess its a self fulfilling prophecy, don't run away and there is a chance in the distant future you jump into that other circle but if you don't try you have exhausted any chance. But what if you spend all that effort trying never do? What have you sacrificed in order to end up failing to get into that other circle?
So the strategy is basically to get into the FAANG club once and then you are golden as long as you keep up your grinding?
Sorry I've been off the market for 2 years now. Holding onto my job and super easygoing boss for dear life. I found by it pure luck and its at a boring company that does nothing innovative but the pay is good and there is no stress. I wish you luck in your search.
